I’m returning back from the Middle East to a more civilized life. One of the things that occured to me was that my shower, though meager our facilities, was about the most enjoyable thing i did on a typical day. It gave me an appreciation for the potential of a bath or spa to become a transforming experience. This was realized long ago by those who have long inhabited that part of the world. Public baths or hamams have traditionally been a luxurious ritual throughout the Middle East. Even Mohammed, i’m told, encouraged regular use of scents by his followers.
With stress becoming an ever growing threat to life and health, enjoyment of bath products may be an excellent way to mitigate the damage. As proof that i’ve begun to place more value on such products, i bought my wife a 3.3 oz. bottle of Jean Paul Gaultier eau de toilette for $87 today as a celebratory gift for my return. I just hope she likes it. I know i do, and when you figure it out, it probably amounts to about $1 per pleasureable whiff. Aside from Bed, Bath and Beyond, there may be plenty of other places, such as Select Bath Depot , to locate about anything you could imagine along these lines.
