practice the drums

just try anything. look up tabs from your favorite song online…google it. print em, and give it a shot! you cant get better by putting it off.btw i need to go practice soon…

i was messin bout with things today and somehow created a pretty decent beat. kinda sounds like it’s been inspired by ‘sugar we’re goin down’..the 4 (sixteenths?) hi-hat beats at the start really fit nice with the continual snare rim hit thats on the offbeat. i tried to write it down so i don’t forget it..you can look at it above-it might be wrong though-as if i know how to write drum score??

yes, i figured out the verse beat to From God Above finally; well to be fair it didn’t take more than two proper practise sessions.

i managed to think of a possible alternative beat to take it all.

also thought of a different type of hi-hat beat thing for let creation sing by starting with minims with improvised bass drums then doing quavers and switching them via 4 semiquavers on the snare as a fill and then eventually moving onto semiquavers on the hi-hats-it’s really fresh and with the drums and synth being the only instruments used in the first verse, it would really build things. only problem is i’d need to be so tight and not too loud..i’m probs gonna do it in the future weeks at church if we play it.

yesturday i managed to figure out the pre chorus of From God Above but still workin’ on the verse beat which is wierd because it’s disjointed; it’s 16ths on the hi-hats but misses out 4 beats(10,11,12,13) plus you have to do somethin else in the gap. Ah i will get there. desperately needin some in-ear headphones, they are amazin’ just very expensive and known to break because of he design.

..i got the ‘UNITED WE STAND’ music book cd-rom today from the worship band hillsong UNITED

managed to pretty much learn all of take it all and improve it by switching the hands on the hi-hats & snare every 2 beats. started learning from God above also, yet it’s pretty difficult because it changes the format of the beats in most of the bars. plus the music book cd-rom doesn’t really have the right drums all the way through they barely explain the cymbals & it can be confusing to see where which parts are. but i have had about a two year or more gap of reading drum scores.

It’s that simple, I need to sit down and do it!!!
