Participate in a Gastric Lap Band Support Group

I am brand new at this and seeking information from folks who have had a lap band surgery, pros and cons ~ I have been to the seminar and have the bariatric appt in a couple weeks, hoping to qualify.

It would be helpful to hear stories from others who have been through it, good and bad.

Hello I am 22 years old and 90 Lbs over weight I got the lap band surgery last july and I have lost 50 pounds very slowly. I want to lose faster. I am ready to be in my goal weight and have a social life. I want a boyfriend! I want to go out and have friends but I have pushed them all away and now Ihave found myself with hardly any friends. I am living in a big city by myself I am very lonely all I can think about it losing weight. Yet I found myself going back to old ways which is eating to make me feel better. I choose healthier foods but does it matter? I eat until it hurts. However I do not do this every day just the bad days like tonight. Where I feel lonely and just need someone to talk to outside my family. This has become more than just my weight, it has taken over my life. I want my social life back….any advice on how to do so please help. I have no confidence anymore even tho I lost 55 pounds, I still look in the mirror and I am unhappy.

I have been having difficulty with my diet. Simply because I can’t eat much of anything without feeling like I have a football stuck in my chest. I am not drinking while eating and I chew my food forever. I am still drinking the protein shakes but the scale is not moving. This is ticking me off.

I feel like I wasted a whole lot of money and got nothing. I had my surgery on December 20th 08 and have lost 5 pounds. I am always hungry but can only eat a little and am never satisfied. I do not know what to do. I am at my wits end…....

Hi my name is Joyce, and I am dieting in preparation for lap band surgery. I would like to talk to people who are in the prep. mode or people who have already done the surgery who also need a support system.I am haveing my surgery done at Kaiser hospital.

I recently had lap band surgery and had my first fill. this first fill seemed to have no restriction at all on my eating of anything nor the amount consumed. What is wrong supposedly my stomach is now pingpong ball size yet I can really put a lot of food away. is this normal or what am I doing wrong?
