"Driving is a necessary evil in So Cal"

How I did it: My mother gave me her car after much begging (her extra one- she had 3). Unfortunately, she had to take it away from my younger brother, but he lives 1 mile away from school, whereas I had to drive 20 miles to work. Once I got the car, I had to wait for her to send the registration from Arizona. I got it in Saturday and the DMV wasn't open so on Monday I went in around 2 PM and filed the paperwork and the $184 yearly registration without smoging and paying the tax since it was a family transfer.

Lessons & tips: Go to the DMV in the AM. Don't make an appointment. Be prepared to pay over $200 for the transfer.

    i had a great meeting with a friend last week and he had mediated a case involving an accident. the parties were in a small car which was incredible mangled and they were hardly injured…i think i’ll find a small car that can handle 2 kayaks and 2 bikes and go for it.

    They totaled my car last fall in the wreck and I’ve been driving around in one of the kids’ old cars. It gets me around locally, but I have to rent a car to go anywhere else. I’m not sure about this one, and I may just remove it, but I’ll include it for a while.

    So my mom has finally sent me the registration for the car. I picked up the car about a month ago, but the title is still in her name and under her insurance. So I’m close to owning that car! Although it did need $2500 in repairs for the SRS, seatbelts, and regular maintenance.
