Plant a tree every year

Trees are lovely, and they are so nice. Maybe a fruit bearing tree…Like an apple tree :]

Can you imagine our world without trees? It’s horoble, isn’t it?
We won’t be able to survive without them. Almost all our basic needs comes from trees. So better save them by plantting more trees.

If you have to plant a bunch to play catchup that could be unrealistic. Granted there are events and whatnot where you might actually be able to do this. But if you have a child you can start planting tree’s for them and as they get older get them in the habbit of making a tree planting part of their regular birthday traditions.

In a humans lifetime we do an amazing ammount of damage to the world and the environment. Planting a tree a year (specifically trees native and indiginous to your local area) helps to balance things out a bit. In a way it kinda allows you to say that for every year you were alive the planet became a little bit better of a place.

If you aren’t already aware of it, there’s a terrific non-profit group that makes it possible for you to donate livestock, bees and trees to families and communities all over the world, thereby creating a long-term solution to the problems of hunger and need. It’s called Heifer International.

There’s no more room for trees at my home, and I’ll still be on the lookout for places to plant trees in my community, but giving trees through this organization strikes me as a happy solution.

Maybe I’ll give my nephews and nieces a goat for Christmas (and a little something fun just for them, too).

... and I haven’t planted a tree. Only two months left to complete this goal. Haven’t even researched what kind of tree I should plant. I’m in Southern California. Any suggestions? Maybe an avocado tree… The seed was certainly be deliciously easy to find.
