I want to make cheese, from milking my own goats that I don’t own yet, and don’t own the land for them to live on. BUT! it will happen…how did you make YOUR cheese? and how the Hell do you make vegan Havarti? What?

for the last five months, I’ve had the only entries on this goal. I finally just got some milk and did it. pretty yummy too. I used apple cider vinegar. I’d like to try it again with white vinegar, lemon juice, or raspberry vinaigrette.

i want to get cheese cloth and make a simple queso blanco
okay so technically I have made homemade cheese… it was vegan Havarti and it was totally awesome!
Yesterday, I bought a gallon of good organic goat’s milk, some buttermilk, and some rennet. Today, I have a cheesecloth with a pound of curds hanging in my fridge. I followed this recipe and it seems like it’ll be excellent!
I have made this cheese many times. I started with the ingredients from www.cheesemaking.com and went from there. I found that grocery store milk was hit or miss as far as success goes, but fresh cows milk I bought from a local Amish dairy turned out great every single time! delicious. My kids ate it all while still warm and I’ve even sold some to coworkers of my husband.
I’ve also made homemade sour cream, buttermilk, butter and yogurt.
I cant wait to try my hand at hard cheeses, particularly cheddar and parmesean :)

Hi there!
I am planning on doing homemade cheese. Could I ask for some expert advise? I’d like to start with the simplest one: with milk and vinegar as the ingredients only. Would be very happy to hear from you.
Ciao.
