It’s out of control and has been for most of my life. It’s ridiculous to be concerned about how I will get enough DC if I’m visiting friends at their house. If I could quit this addiction long enough to have a child healthily, I certainly should be able to do it again for myself.

How I did it: I just had to give it up all at once. I was a hard-core addict (upwards of a liter a day!) and I knew it wasn't doing my bones or digestive system any favors. Plus I wanted my teeth to look whiter, so that's been good. Trying to drink more water, but I've never been a big water drinker, so it's hard. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I switched brands. I jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. I am now the second greatest source of income to my corner convenience store right below tobacco. I must now contemplate a detox program or face death by aspartame. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had been wanting to quit for a long time because I had read a lot about how bad aspartame was for you, and I did notice that often when I had a diet coke I would get headaches and backaches. I had thought about quitting often but kept going back to it because my cravings were too strong. One day I was drinking a diet coke and I realized that it just was not making me feel well and it didn't even taste that good to me. At that moment I t… Read how I did it…

Well, if Mountain Dew counts as a substitute then I’m going great.
If not…....darn.

After abstaining for about 7 weeks, I had a diet coke for medicinal purposes. I had a big concert and about 1/2 an hour before I was literally falling asleep (very unusual!) and Diet Coke was the only thing on hand to give me a jolt to get through it. I was surprised that I didn’t start craving it again. So after about 3 more weeks, I had one, and then a few more weeks…another one.
I was afraid this would lead me back to my old 3-a-day habit (like any addiction, smoking etc.) but since I’m not doing the Subway thing anymore, I find I have a Diet Coke about once a week. I have a somewhat addictive personality, so I am astounded that once a week feels ok…I don’t crave it all the time. Strange!
So I haven’t stopped entirely, but I feel comfortable with this. Certainly going from over 20 per week to 1 is a major improvement. Someday perhaps, it will be completely vanquished….

It was going good for a while, but then today I had some Diet Coke.
I think it’s because I didn’t have my tea this morning.
I have one 24 oz.bottle left in the trunk of my car, I ‘m going to drink it with lunch tomorrow and then I am DONE! I’ve been trying to wean myself off diet soda for a while now,and I think I’m ready to break off my relationship with this garbage for good.

Ever since I learned about aspartame, I have been wanting to quit.
I’m starting this monday.
I figure I’ll use these few days as my ‘farewell drinks’ of Diet Coke.
I plan on doing it cold turkey.
Just to note, I do want to cut out all pop, but on the RARE occasion Diet 7-up or whatever is at the house, I’ll drink it.
But Diet Coke is the real thing. We have to have a constant supply of Diet Coke at home because nearly all of my family is completely addicted to this drink.
Have been since the early 90s.
And I plan to be the first to quit.
Good luck to all of you! We can do this!

Well, it’s been three weeks and I really can’t believe that so far this isn’t nearly as hard as I expected. I guess because I have so much trouble limiting yummy foods (cheesy mexican, cake etc.) when I’m trying to lose weight. And Diet Coke was always my treat that I got to have anyway, and I’d never tried drinking less let alone quitting altogether!? But yesterday I went to the movies and got a water!! Too bad the movie was awful. But it’s always hard not to want popcorn, but to also not want my Diet Coke was a huge step. Yay!
ElectrocaineXxX was told, "We're better off without you kid."
I saw a film called Waterbourne recently. L.A. is under a terrorist attack and their water supply is contaminated. Like three days without water and they all go ape-kaka.
Um…okay. I could survive that no problem. I drink so little water that it’s amazing I don’t crack at the seems with dehydration. Redbull does nothing for me what with the overwhelming amount of caffeine I ingest on a daily bases.
It’s sick. It really is…
I haven’t had any since i said i’d quit and i feel so so much better. i drink big pints of tap water with ice instead which make me feel much more healthy. my stomach is not painful and bloated all the time like it was. This is great. That stuff is actual poison.
