I had a small bottle and it took me all day to finish it. After taking a few drinks I just did not want anymore. It just did not feel good.I am so happy that I am losing the taste for it. I don’t know how long it will take me to not want any at all but this is the most progress I have ever made when attempting to give up Diet Coke.

I have tried giving up diet coke before but I have always gone back. The last couple days I have been drinking more than I would like. It has been a stressful week. I know I have to cut back again. So for the next week no more because if I have some I actually crave more. I also crave junk food and when I have junk food I crave soda. So I just have to be kind to my body and be concious of what I am putting in my mouth.

I had one on Thursday. That was OK I know I can’t have more than one every few days or once a week or I will get taste of it again. Drinking it makes you crave it more. I was really stressed last night and it carried over today. I really wanted one earlier and I am still entertaining the idea of getting one but I know that I always use it as a crutch so I am not going to do it. If I want to change this habit I have to change my behavior so even though I have been stressed I will deal with it instead of using soda to get through it

I have had some Diet Coke but not a lot. I went out to lunch/movie with friends and had one with lunch but not at the movie. The only time during the week that I have had any was on a really bad day. I have a 12 oz can but I still wanted more so I got a 20 oz bottle. That was too much. It is nice to see that I am lowering the amount. I am also noticing that it taste a lot like regular coke. Yuck! Because of the amount I drank before I think I became used to the taste.
A lot of it is just habit.I have to say no to the habit other wise I will never be able to do this. Other than that one bad day I have pretty muched replaced it with water when I am at work. I have began drinking more water at home as well. Anything other than soda. I don’t keep it at home so I would have to go out and get it if I really wanted it.

I have not had any kind of Diet Coke today. I had a little bit of a headache earlier but it went away. I need to change my habits and behavior. As soon as I got to work I started feeling letharic and I wanted to go and get a DC out of the vending machine. I got busy and now it is several hours later and I dont want one anymore. If I keep myself busy and change up my habits it will be better than doing the same things the same way and realizing something is missing.

So I got called in early to work today and I did not have my cup of tea this morning so I had a really bad headache. I was finally able to get rid of that but it seems strange that I just got a headache today. I really want to accomplish this goal so I will keep doing whatever I need to do to get through this. I just got my 20 oz bottle of caffeine free and that will be it for today. I will not drink soda at all at home. I am beginning to think that I am more addicted to the sweetners than the caffeine. I think another week and I will not drink any at all at work.

When I am at work I am OK. The last two days I have had about 1/2 cup of tea in the morning before work and then at work all I have had is one 12 oz can of caffeine free. I have been drinking more water. This weekend though I have been really downing the caffeine free at home. I should just keep it out of the house. I know what it was. I was not feeling well and Diet coke has always been my crutch to make myself feel better. I do feel better that at least I am drinking caffeine free. I will slowly ween myself off of that once I am done with the case that I have.

I only had a 20 oz caffeine free diet coke yesterday and today. I think the cup of tea in the morning helped. Tea is better for you than soda. I think this is progress. The last two days I have not wanted to finish the last 1/2 or quarter of the soda. I will see if I can find any of the baby cans of caffeine free. If I can ween myself to a smaller amount of caffeine free that would be great. Then I will ween myself off of it completely. I want to say this may be the time that I actually stick with this but it has been less than a week so I don’t want to jinx myself.

So today is Tuesday. I did not have any soda on Saturday, Sunday my friend bought me lunch which included the soda so I had one large one on Sunday. Monday I did not have one until I got to work and then a 20 oz bottle lasted me all day. Which for me is really good. It is very hard to go cold turkey because you feel lethargic and I really don’t want to be cranky around people either. I have been drinking a lot more water but it really does not seem to quenching my thirst. It feels like I have cotton mouth most of the time and the only thing that makes it go away is diet coke. I would have been satisfied with 3/4 of that 20z bottle. so what I am going to try to do to see if this works is wean myself off. I read online about going to caffeine free or diluting the regular diet coke with water. I will see how the diluting goes today. I am no longer going to buy the 1 liter bottles to last me all day at work. I always find it kind of embarrasing to walk back to work from the store with a liter bottle of soda. I must look like some kind of redneck idiot. It is usually flat by the time I finish drinking it anyway. I also found some pictures online that I am thinking of taping to the bottle to discourage me from drinking it. So trying my best but I will only allow myself one 20 oz bottle a day (caffeine free or diluted) and if I can go without even better.

I didn’t have any at the house and I really wanted one once I got to work but got busy and realized that an hour had passed by. The more time passed I did want to go and get one. I wanted something to do with my hands and take away from the monotony of work. I wanted a taste in my mouth. I have been feeling sluggish. I even took a nap on my lunch break. I have had water and crystal light so far today. What’s funny is I feel more bloated today than I do if I drink the soda. I have tried quitting before. The longest I have gone is about a month. Usually something comes up. I am tired and I need a lift, stress, etc. I have tried substituting it with sparkling water and tea but it is the combination of the taste, caffeine and the bubbles. This is something I should be able to just do and not have to worry about the cravings every hour of the day.
