attend SXSW

SXSW is basically like any other typical day in Austin, except that there are more conspicuous New Yorkers and Hollywood-types walking around, talking on cell phones and dashing off to the next screening. It’s a really cool festival, but if you live in Austin you pretty much get to live the whole “South-by” experience 24-7 b/c Austin has sooooooooo much to offer in the way of entertainment.

now that I’ve found out when the precious Hotel San Jose will be releasing the rooms… I’m ready to dial like mad that day to book us our rooms

Ok, so SXSWi has given Digital Web Magazine an extra ticket to give away. I decided to write a blog post about this asking to hear from people who would want to go and why we should give them the ticket. So, if you are interested in getting a free ticket, please post a comment there.

since we dunno how many days off either one of us will be able to take by that time. Maybe we’ll play it by year and get a last minute deal instead.

But not take a WHOLE week off for it… maybe make it a long weekend? like take the thursday and friday off?

According to the website, the music festival doesn’t start til the wed.. so we’ll just miss one day of event.

Just checked the site… if we register before Sept 30, it’s 35% off for the music badge, only $375!!... flight on UA is $470… plus hotel… plus food… so if we budget $1,500 each, we can do it?

If I get to SF by Jan, I would have just started work for two months by the time SxSW rolls around. Would that be too early to take a one week vacation?

so gotti has already gone to SXSW before but I’ve only been introduced to the festival last year. I’ve downloaded the music from this year’s festival and listend to ~70% of it. I’ve read up on the event and reviews from people. The whole thing sounds like fun. Besides the festival, I’ll also get a chance to visit one of the cities that I had yet had the pleasure of visiting… bonus!
