Already fluent in English.. have at least half the idea of how Spanish works.. currently sharpening up my Chinese skills.

Actually I want to learn 3 romance languages as well as at least 3 asian languages. But I decided on this goal for now because it seems more likely to be accomplished.

When some of my friends saw this goal on my list, they thought I was crazy and kept telling me I was already fluent in three languages. But, until now, I never quite felt like it. And I have finally discovered why.
All I really needed to do was overcome my shyness. But, now that I’m in Spain and around many, many Frenchies, I constantly see myself approaching people, even if it’s just to ask for the time, to wish them a wonderful day, or to find out where I can get a Coke. It was really that simple.
And, now that my shyness is gone, I have also gained more confidence to speak. So this means I will finally check this goal off, and it will leave me with three languages: English, French, and German.

    Well... 23 months ago

...after I had moved to Canada two years ago, I can now say that my English is nearly excellent. Far from perfect, but better than most of the stuff the others learn in school.
German is my mothertounge, and I have spoken it for 12 years and still speak it at home.
I am now going into the depths of the French langauge. I have gone through 4 years of HARD WORK and nearly four months of living in France, to get to the level in the French language where I am now. Looking back, it’s been quite fun, though :]
But I am not satisfied yet :P Although I am actually starting to get better than my Mother (who had learnt it a while ago), and often “needing” to correct my French teachers, I still want to improve my skills. You can always go further.
What I definitely need to work on is being able to talk. I have no problems with grammar, conjugations, irregular verbs, or writing at all, but whenever I actually need to speak to others, I often stumble over my words, for I try to express myself as correctly as possible. I know, I am perfectionistic, which can sometimes be a curse. :P
Maybe I’ll be able to mark this off in a couple of months…or years :P
I would like to compliment all the others who have set this goal for themselves! Languages are very useful these days, and they will become more important in the near and far future, espescially when looking for jobs.
I WILL BE CHEERING YOU ON!
