of a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm compact. It fits my hand perfectly, the weight is solid yet light, and its a finely crafted, dependable piece of work. I’m so proud.
Tonight, I’m going to the range for a basic refresher on safety and carrying, and pointers on shooting during a little target practice. Next month, I’ll attend the state citizens’ firearms course for more intensive training.
My father taught me to shoot as a young woman, and its something that I’ve always enjoyed, but this is the first gun of my own, and its perfect. It feels like a natural extension of my arm and fires like a dream. I could really see me getting into this on a serious level, possibly competing. 16 months ago

that tomorrow, I’ll be the proud owner of a Smith and Wesson m&p 9mm compact. I cannot wait! Its a beautiful gun, handles like a dream. I hate to spend that kind of money out of my savings, but it’ll be worth every penny. Wednesday, I’m hitting the firing range again. 16 months ago

on a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm compact last night, and really liked the way it fit and felt. I also checked out a .38 revolver.
I think what I’m going to do now is actually return to the range and rent a few of these guns to get a feel for how they fire. I’ve used the full size Smith & Wesson 9mm, and loved it, so chances are the compact will end up being my choice. Easy to carry, not too big, but enough firepower to do more than just piss an assailant off. 16 months ago

and hopefully, I’ll have one by the end of the trip.
I want something compact and portable, easy carried. I’ve looked at a Smith & Wesson 380 Bodyguard, and although the compact size was nice, the clip end hit in an awkward spot on my hand, it was a little too short. Wouldn’t be comfortable at all for target practice at the range. The built in laser sight was handy.
I also looked at a Gen. 4 Glock, and it felt great as far as fit, but wasn’t as compact, but it was light. The blockyness of it was odd though, kind of like a Lego gun.
I’m having to make sure I’m picking a gun that’s practical and sized for carry, and not for what I like for sport/target practice only. There’s a big difference. There’s lots of choices out there, I’m sure I’ll find something that feels right. 16 months ago

In the wake of the tragic events at Virginia Tech last week, I’m hearing a lot of people talking about the need for stiffer gun control laws. Dennis Kucinich is even talking about a handgun ban!
I don’t know about you, but the thought of my government being the only entity allowed to own weapons is pretty terrifying. And let’s also consider that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution specifically gives us the right to bear arms. A ban on guns would therefore be unconstitutional.
Granted, murder is a horrible act, and weapons in the hands of people who will use them for that purpose is a bit scary. But there will always be crazy and violent people walking this planet, and there will always be a black market for guns. I like what both Ron Paul and Ted Nugent have to say on the issue of gun control. To wit:

Something to think about, indeed. 4 years ago
