We've left the campground ... and thankfully the heat! 2 years ago

You can read all about it by catching my blog at www.MarillaAnne.com and by perusing my accomplished things.

But it was a great campground and it is very mis-understood by the locals … I have a new thing I’m going to add to my 43 things list. ... Write about Croton Point … and go take some more pictures.

Billy's survived 8 nights 2 years ago

Well, he called me today and his new neighbors are serving him “The Upper Westchester Cocktail.” ... uh what?

“Basically it’s a Screwdriver except instead of Orange Juice it’s Orange Soda.”

Mmmm ok.

oh and they’re trying to get the tent area quiet because somebody’s filming something … does Russell Crow mean anything to anybody?

Oh and … he called to cancel his 5am wake up call! Imagine that!

Oh and … an excerpt from a note I wrote my dad

Billy’s doing okay … they had a tornado in Tarrytown, the city that Billy works in … it passed within less than 1/2 mile from where he works. One thing I read said that the last tornado was in 2000! Oh and if the winds align just right we can even have a hurricane. I’m just dreading the snow and the cold. I may live somewhere else for January and February.

You can read about the tornado here

So … this all happened right before he left work … and what does my husband do? He just walked around the whole mess and went on into the heart of the city and did his laundry. I thought it was funny. By the time he finished, they had all the buses and trains running on time again.

Billy's survived 7 nights 3 years ago

Thunderstorm rolled through … he called me from the camp restrooms (better than being out in the open in the storm) ... it was midnight his time … he sounded tired.

During our 2am – 5am wake-up call this morning he sounded exhausted.

Today they had a tornado in Tarrytown. It was pretty hard on the trees … trees in the street and on the rail …

After work, Billy went into Tarrytown and did his laundry.

His tent at his campsite up n. of Tarrytown is safe and sound.

Oh Sunday he got on the wrong train and instead of going to church … he was expressed to times square. So he enjoyed a tour.

Day Two 3 years ago

When I called Billy this a.m., I could hear the birds singing. He was happy about that.

He did some train/hike combo to get to work.

When he was walking home, he called to tell me about the dear that were snorting at him at that moment and that the wild Canadian geese acted like he didn’t even exist. This is the stuff that makes him happy.

The tent was still there all safe and sound. He’s asleep. I’m going to sleep. I miss sleeping with him. I’m bummed that we won’t be together at this particular camp first because it sounds so great and he had to work so hard to get it.

He was thinking of scouting out a different park but it would require ferry fees and the like. So hopefully the money situation will be different by next weekend.

Day One (July 6) 3 years ago

Billy arrived only to find out that the person who made his reservation on the fourth was ummm untrained?

First there’s a strict rule against tents on RV sites. But the only sites with power are RV sites but Billy has to have power in order to sleep (basically to stay alive, avoid brain damage, etc) because he uses a c-pap machine when he sleeps.

Second there’s a 14 days in, 14 days out rule—which is what we actually expected.

They got him approval for the tent on the RV site because of the c-pap. At least until the 20th.

Billy held the phone up for me to listen to the noise … there was none. He loves that part. He sounded so tired though.

And so it begins ... 3 years ago

Billy called yesterday. He’s reserved a site for almost three weeks. He sounded relieved. It’s down in the park and the restroom and showers are 30 seconds away.
