It’s a NICE goal but I really have no idea how “I” can see tougher penalties for drunk drivers and would prefer to take part in taking Preventative measures against drunk driving than step in after the damage has already been done.

Perhaps I could take volunteer for Operation Red Noseoh I can hear the objections already ;p, come on even I drive better than someone under the influence

So incredibly sad 2 years ago

Someone I knew came upon a horrifying crash over 5 years ago and I never forgot her account of what she was witness to and I am sure it still haunts her to this day. I’ve frequented the net looking for news of the sentence handed down to this drunk driver who killed 5 people.

“An eight-year prison sentence for an oilfield worker who killed five people after blowing a stop sign near Lac La Biche was affirmed by Alberta’s highest court yesterday. A panel of three judges ruled the sentence was on the high end of the range, but concluded it was based on solid legal principles and consideration of other similar cases”

That is on the high end! That is very tragic and very wrong, to me this sentence pales in comparison to what he has sentenced the family members to who are left to mourn the loss of their loved ones.

What is wrong with our justice system! This just infuriates me and makes me very sad. I don’t know what I can do to affect change.

How bizarre, after entering this onto my goals and reading a story on the internet about the lives ruined and forever changed by a drunk driver I was putting myself to bed when there was a ring at my doorbell. They announced themselves as City Police. They asked if we were the owners of the Pontiac 6000 which is parked out on the street. “Yes, was it stolen, again?!” “No even better it was hit by a car, along with three other vehicles by a drunk driver.” Thankfully he was caught before he hurt or killed anyone, but to think how easily tonight could have ended in tragedy for someone because of his thoughtless, reckless actions is on my mind as I put myself to bed, and peek in on my sleeping children.
