I barely hand-write anymore – with both hands? NEVER!! Once I fractured my wrist and had to write with my left hand but it was almost completely illegible. I am going to try and do some left-hand writing in my spare time (maybe every day?)

I really want to learn with my left hand. Well, the hand of mine that isn’t dominant, my left hand. I think this’ll help in case my right hand goes through an accident. I think I’m doing quite well, actually. At first, I would colour a children’s colouring book every day at night. I did it with crayons, and then pencil crayons. It was always ugly. Well, it got better… but I quit that. It was just sooo boring! I abandoned the goal for a while, and here I am trying again. I have this notebook which now has 24 pages worth of written work with my left-hand. Well, 12-13 ish, but 24 pages. It’s normal 8 by 11 lined paper. Every day, I go to Wikipedia or some interesting place to get information and learn. I rewrite stuff off there. I’m not bored yet. Because, I actually learn stuff, and it’s wonderful, and I enjoy it. I also like skimming the pages of the notebook full of left-hand printing and think to myself ‘Woah, I’ve written a lot.” It makes me happy. Don’t do boring stuff like colouring with your left hand. Do something that will interest you. That is my only tip! xD

I can already write with my left hand thanks to a number of boring classes over the years. I guess the next step is to up my writing speed and learn to write cursive.
Learning to brush left handed would be useful. I’m always trying to mess around on the computer when brushing my teeth. Right hand on mouse, left hand on brush :D

I’ve just started working on this (well, this time. I’ve tried it off and on over the years but never with a concerted effort). I can write legibly, but it’s really really messy/kindergarten-esque.
Has anyone looked into or tried changing the way you form your letters to make it feel more natural? It seems to me that our alphabet is designed for most strokes to be pulled, rather than pushed, across the paper. So, for example, I start a W at the top left corner and pull the pen down-up-down-up towards the right. I find if I’m writing with my left hand, and I start with the upper left corner, it feels marginally more natural.
Do natural lefties use different letter-forming strategies? Or do we all learn the same strokes in grade one and lefties just deal?

I write left handed off and on but it looks like kindergarden writing. I wrote my name one time on my wkst. and u could hardly tell whose name it was.

Currently learning how to write in cursive with me left hand, started a few days ago. :D It’s loads of fun.
Next, I’m going to try to move my computer mouse with my left hand, brush my teeth with said hand, and just do more daily activities with it. XD

Okay i feel that my writing on my whiteboard is neat enough to start on paper. Also i’ve used up two pens, and i have to buy some more now. I’m just picking up random books and copying. So far i’ve copied poetry, parts of the odyssey, philosophy… even pages from my textbooks!!!!!!!!!!! I am proud of myself.

I already can write a few letters really really messily with my left but i want to be able to wirte as neat with my left as my right. I am actually ambidextrous but in grade 1 i was forced to write with my right hand so now, I want to write with my left too.
