Such a fun hobby sadly results in many un-sipped lattes. I heard so many incredible techniques on the internet, showered my eyes with youtube “latte art tutorials” and became a caffeine addict by practicing every morning. I am a far from perfect Rosetta “pourer”, and it still makes my heart bust a little each time I can pull one off…But I would definitely say that I can accomplish this.
If you came up to me and said,
“Kasey, dear, pour me a beaut of a Rosetta will you?”
I would swiftly reply,
“Gladly kind sir!” and have it for you in just a few moments.
Have an amazing time pursing this goal everyone! We are in need of some authentic, good, and talented Baristas in our age of Starbucks!
:)

after being a barista for almost two years, i got it… i can pour hearts & leaves (sometimes)
The only advice I have is to ask somebody who knows how to do it to show you, and then practice constantly… you won’t be able t do it and then one day you’ll just magically get it.

After a long hiatus (due to a device malfunction and my subsequent Lenten vow to give up coffee) my espresso machine has reappeared on the kitchen counter. I haven’t yet made really good steamed/foamed milk yet with this machine, but I know practice makes perfect. I’ll keep trying and post pics if I get anything remotely close.

Latte art, like anything else, originates with an understanding of how it works, what goes into it and be willing to suffer failure after failure until it all comes together.

I’ve been a barista for about a year now, and I think I’ve finally got making good drinks down. The only thing left is learning how to do latte art. I’ve done a heart a few times, but I don’t know how to do a leaf at all.

I just found out that CoffeeGeek.com has a podcast. Oh, the joy! Is it sad that I not only just spent an hour listening to the podcast, but also spent an additional half-hour writing them feedback on the content?
I’m as far from being able to pour latte art as ever, since there’s no sign of me even getting drip-coffee equipment for my apartment any time soon, let alone an espresso machine. Perhaps I should try to get a coffee-shop job again… the extra cash would certainly help with my “go to Pantheacon” goal.

But I made some heart-ish looking things. Ok they sucked, but it was sorta artistic, and I need the slot free here. Anyway, I need to get a new espresso pot, my current one is a wee ratty looking.

Ever since I saw a clip about this on the food network I’ve been intrigued. I need to get a few extra bits for my kitchen and then I’ll try it out.
