my boyfriend got his diesel mercedes converted a few months back and it runs on any type of waste vegetable oil. he’s driven about 1500 miles on veggie oil, which is almost free if you have the right stuff. first you have to find a source for it, then you have to filter it and so on. he gets most of it from chinese restaurants, pizza restaurants, a health-food restaurant: any restaurant that uses vegetable oil and isn’t disgusting (because there would be too many gross things floating in mainstream fast food restaurants’ oil).
basic line- it’s awesome! he bought some from a guy once for 80 cents a gallon, and nowadays that’s more than 2/gallon cheaper than gas or even diesel.
my 524td beamer broke (cracked cylinder head), but i plan to get it fixed when i have the money. after that, i plan to convert it to veggie oil!!!
