It’s not quite RubyConf, but it was well worth doing. I was one of 8 speakers, and talked about several Ruby libraries that make the developer’s life easier.
I think I did a pretty good job, I managed to loosen up a bunch from my normal presentation jitters and the audience seemed to enjoy it.
I’m hoping I can do it again next year.

Well, at OSCon, I ran a session on building Ruby Brigades. That’s a start.
At the end of the month, I’m speaking at RubyConf*MI. Again, it might not be the full on RubyConf, but I’m getting closer.

The 2005 continuation workshop was the most fun presentation I’ve ever done.

If you really want it to go well, get Jim Weirich to copresent with you. Thanks, Jim! :)

Fret Fret Fret… all over with and damn successful.
I got multiple applause throughout the talk for the things I showed and probably just as much how I showed them, as I had pre-recorded movies that were really smooth, to the point, and relatively error free.
I’ve since been showered with compliments and questions about my talk and am feeling more than a bit overwhelmed, awed, and grateful.

My presentation was short, fast and perfectly delivered (if I don’t say so myself). I covered the current work of MetaRuby, gave our plans for the near and far future and covered a few of the “interesting” things discovered in MetaRuby. There was a slight pause before questions were asked, but I did get a good crop of them. I think I was a perfect bookend to the JRuby and YARV talks.

I decided that breadth first is the way to go. I’ll lose the newbs all at once and they can enjoy their slumber. Those that can stick it out will be able to do so for as long as they want.
I’ve gotten my first rough draft done, and a finalized schedule. I have 2 more draft milestones + 5 weeks of coding to do.

I wrote up an outline of my presentation for rubyconf2005, both in depth first and breadth first order. The audience is a bit of an unknown this year (no thanks to rails), so I’m not sure which type of talk would work best. This way, I’ll have both sets made and I can even let the audience choose!
I’m now making slides for them!

I hope one day that I can try this.
