The Tacoma protesters have gotten savvy after the 40 Days for Life campaign-there was even a bomb threat (which the police fortunately discovered in September before anything happened. Thank you, whoever anti-choice person you are, for actually being halfway moral and turning in your compatriot). So among the strategies that PPWW is doing is counter-protesting, which consists of wearing PP t-shirts and holding signs and generally being visible.

I was expecting more people, nastier signs, and way more attempted contact than actually happened on my first shift. At one point only two little old people with their rosaries held down the fort (and that deeply annoyed another counter-protester, who was Catholic). More came later, but we were cheerful I think and stimulated many honks for Planned Parenthood. I wish I could have done this earlier (in part due to the weather-I got sick from the cold) during 40 Days for Life, in which there were many many more people. Unfortunately I doubt that my opportunities will be limited.

I definitely want to do this (or other volunteering) again!

I spent my spring break during second year university volunteering for them. I believe so strongly in this cause, I’m very glad I helped! I just did general office work for them: filing, organizing, making phone calls, but I was pleased to be of service to them.

I also interned with them all through my 3rd year at university. I went and talked to fraternities & sororities and local young people about the services PP provides to the community.
