Rich history, beautiful cemeteries, the charm of New Orleans, artistic community, ghostly inhabitants, Victorian homes, and gardens galore…what’s not to love? (Besides the lack of parking places)
How I did it: I rode in the family car. lol
I was an incoming SCAD freshman.
Drove 8 hrs from Alabama.
I received a scholarship to go to SCAD in the Fall of 08' for my Illustration degree. SCAD is a good school, don't get me wrong, and SCAD buildings are VERY safe. But the second you step out of a SCAD protected area and venture out into the city there might be trouble...never walk alone.
Lessons & tips: If you plan on going to SCAD and you live in Turner House and you don't drink or smoke and dye your hair a thousand different colors for attention...God save your soul. You're going to be like me and not have any friends. lol
Savannah is way too sketchy for me. Waaay too many bums stalking me and asking for money and eying my body. I'm from Alabama and I'm not used to that at all.
I don't care if the place is knee deep in interesting history...If I can't walk alone somewhere in broad daylight without feeling like someone is going to jump out from behind a bush then I don't want to be there, simply put.

cosmopolita is done with drawing lines.
So after I live in NYC, hopefully Paris, and maybe a few places elsewhere, I want to come back to my roots and live in Savannah. It is the best southern city. I recommend visiting there to everyone I know looking for a genuine southern town with class and charm!
I fell in love with Savannah several years ago, and things haven’t been the same since. I’ve never moved in my life, except when someone ELSE decided I should, and I’ve been in this house for over 20 years now. I want to pull up roots and go home – to a place I get homesick for, even though I’ve never lived there.
We are a young couple with 2 kids… We want to know what it’s like down there. The weather in the midwest sucks… Is there a cool music scene? Cool artsy type stuff? Cool people? We are really into music and hip places.
and soon! i wanted to go this year for halloween, but it didn’t work out. we’re hoping to go back for a visit early next year, though.
