I only hiked a mile up and then backtracked, but it was so beautiful. October was a little cold to be hiking through a riverbed though. I’d like to go back in the summer and hike the whole thing.
How to hike the narrows

How I did it: We took a trip to southern Utah (about a day down, day there, and day back). I went with a group of my friends to hike the Narrows. We were only going to hike about 4 hours, but it was so cold that the leaders of my group thought that there would be a threat of hypothermia. I was crushed! So, we only hiked about ten minutes before they turned us around. They promised to bring me back in the summer. The water in October was SO COLD! We then decided to hike Angel's Landing instead. So the trip was a success in the end.
Lessons & tips: It is cold. I don't have experience with the trail passed the point we walked, but it was starting to get waist deep in some spots. Bring good water shoes and a hiking pole, or long stick to help walk through the river. I will have to go again and then I can give more details!

hiked the Narrows in Zion NP during the month we were on the road. I am finally back online and back to 43T!!!!!!
We are in California on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevadas….drum roll… living in a wall tent for the summer! I am going to spend some time today, clicking “I’ve Done This” on many of my goals that I ended up, suprisingly enough, accomplshing in one month rather than spreading them out over the next few years.

we will stop and camp in Zion on our way to California to the new job. I will hike the Narrows with my son while I am there.

why this hike has not made it into the book I am writing… after all, it was one of the most memorable days of the trip. I am glad I am writing an entry for each of my goals today, because now I am thinking about how I would capture this hike in words.
