We had (and drove) a Henney Kilowatt for a few years, but it was never going to be good for anything other than a showpiece (and we have the Ego scooter for errand commuting) so we bought an already-converted Karmann Ghia and drove that on longer-distance commutes before we scavenged the curtis for a friend’s Jet Electra and took out the batteries so we could rebuild and relocate the battery box. Now it’s sitting in the driveway … we’ve got the new batteries, we’re on the list to get a new motor … the near&dear is focusing on the Saturn conversion in the garage (he’s building it on commission) so our little Karmann Electra is a shell of its former self. This goal is to get the darned thing back up and running, and preferably able to make it to the Renewable Energy Roundup on its own next year. 4 years ago

We converted an 1986 S-10 pick-up to totally electric a few years ago and liked it so much we decided to help others convert their cars. So many people wanted conversions but did not want to do the work, we now convert cars/trucks for others. We are so excited because they are totally electric, go regular speeds (45-55 mph is the optimal driving speed) for a range of 35-60+ miles on average, and most importantly are stopping more CO2 emissions while still getting to our destination. We have converted a BMW 325I, a Toyota Camry, a Honda Civic, a Pontiac Firefly, a Ranger extended cab pick-up, and more. So you see, depending on your needs, you are not stuck with just a hybrid or small, slow neighbor car. Check out “http://www.ampmobiles.com” , see how you can make a difference, we do every week. Into some bushes at my high school, only the tip was hurt. I was taking the Environmental Options class and they said it would be okay for me to take the electric car for a test drive (just around a small area on campus) even though I didn’t have my driver’s license yet. Needless to say, that was the last time I drove it. 6 years ago
