 "The most incredible country I've ever seen!"
How I did it: I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to Italy for 10 days with a group from my school. On our trip, we visited Florence, Siena, Cortona, Perugia, Sorrento, Naples, Capri, Pompeii, and Rome. It was a whirlwind trip (lots of bus riding!) but absolutely fantastic. The countryside looks exactly like it does in all of the photos, movies, etc. The air is clean, the people are gorgeous, the food is delicious, the architecture is breathtaking, and the history is fascinating. The country is every bit as awesome as it looks. Ten days was hardly enough time for me to take everything in, so my only regret would be in how short the trip was! This is one place that I want to visit again and again- and hope to go over again in a couple of years to study abroad for a semester!

How I did it: My university had a summer school program there, so I lived in Florence for 5 weeks and traveled around from there on the weekends. I mostly took the train and walked because Italy has excellent public transportation. I highly recommend getting someone to tell you a bit about the history of the city you're visiting. I am 1/4 Italian, and even though it is not much, I am connected deeper with the Italian part of my heritage more than anything else. My mother and I are both in love with the culture of Italy and it is one of our dreams to visit the country together some day. Sadly, we have never had the money to do this, and we don’t know who would care for our many pets even if we did. :(

I have decided to learn some Italian for my trip. Had my first lesson today and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s not easy, but I’m always up for a challenge. Anything that gets my mind going is a plus.

i’m hoping i’ll be able to visit italy and greece next summer. i’d love to have my bro come with me for some protection. oh, and he’s a pretty cool guy. i’m really hoping it actually happens and then i can cross off two things on my bucket list!! :)

This is something I have always wanted to do. Sort of “getting back to the home country.” I want to learn to speak Italian as well and will be putting that in front of my goal to go there so that trip is even better.
