How to visit Greece

 "Haven't actually gone, but the tickets are booked and the plane leaves in May!! Super excited!"
How I did it: Went online and found a pretty good price for tickets and a room for a week. Convinced my mom to come with me. Booked the tickets and will be leaving at the end of May for one week :) Lessons & tips: Prices for travelling are pretty good right now from the US to pretty much anywhere. I used some of the money I got back from taxes to pay for the tickets and will be saving money from tips and also using some of my tax money for the trip. Resources: expedia.com

How I did it: I had earned a frequent flier ticket that could take me to Europe. My sister and I decided to go together. We decided to book a cruise so that we could go to a bunch of different places instead of just one place. I did this and it was cool :) I just visited the capital and also an island, Corfu. Different than most of the rest of Europe and also kind of expensive, so be prepared. I’d love to go back and visit more of the cool villages and mix more with the locals.

i’m hoping i’ll be able to visit italy and greece next summer. i’d love to have my bro come with me for some protection. oh, and he’s a pretty cool guy. i’m hoping it actually happens and then i can cross off two things on my bucket list!! :)

Inspired by the fantastic movie 300, I read Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield, a more historically accurate account of the battle of Thermopylae. Great book. Really got me more interested in visiting Greece than ever before. Historical context has a way of doing that. I almost could have checked this goal off last summer when the ship I was on stopped by Crete. Alas, we did not have a port stop there, we just exchanged security personnel via helicopter, so all I could do was look from a distance.

I have an empty passport. I want to fill it more than anything. My first stop- Patras Greece. Followed by Santorini and other islands.
