It just looks so exotic and beautiful. Plus I love Greek food.
How to visit Greece
How I did it: Went online and found a pretty good price for tickets and a room for a week. Convinced my mom to come with me. Booked the tickets and will be leaving at the end of May for one week :)
Lessons & tips: Prices for travelling are pretty good right now from the US to pretty much anywhere. I used some of the money I got back from taxes to pay for the tickets and will be saving money from tips and also using some of my tax money for the trip.

kungfusailer is living the dream!
Inspired by the fantastic movie 300, I read Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield, a more historically accurate account of the battle of Thermopylae. Great book. Really got me more interested in visiting Greece than ever before. Historical context has a way of doing that. I almost could have checked this goal off last summer when the ship I was on stopped by Crete. Alas, we did not have a port stop there, we just exchanged security personnel via helicopter, so all I could do was look from a distance.
I have an empty passport. I want to fill it more than anything. My first stop- Patras Greece. Followed by Santorini and other islands.
The perfect blend of history/culture and relaxation.
I want to go to Athens TERRIBLY. I am so inspired by Ancient Greek culture. On my list of things to see..
The Acropolis, Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike
Poseidon Temple.
The Agora!
Piraeus
The museums (haha… all of them.)
After that, I wouldn’t mind taking a little breather on one or more of the beautiful Greek Islands.. ;)
This will be my first big vacation when I finally finish grad school and have a real job.
I would love to see the Parthenon. :)
