I’m 20 and started dating the guy I had a big ol’ crush on in highschool over a year ago. It’s perfect. I’m glad we started dating in college instead of high school though, everything works out better this way. We both go to different schools and puruse our own goals. I went to London for 4 months and now he’s going to Australia for 5. It’ll be fine :)

I meet the love of my life when I was 11 years old. We were friends and at age 14 began I serious relationship that lasted 5 years. He was the most wonderful guy. We ended when we were 19. And lost touch until 3 years ago when suddenly he show up in my house with his family. He believes that my oldest son that’s 19 is his. (Oh! I forgot he was my first lover). After that he came back by himself and we started talking and remembering highschool. My daughter told me that when she saw us she could tell that we loved each other very much. He comes by once in awhile and we talk. Both of our spouses know our story. We both turn 40 this year. And I still love him very much. Which I had a time machine.

Death is so final. My high school sweetheart died recently from a fatal drug interaction from medications he was taking for an injury. I only found out 4 days ago, and the sadness has been unreal. We met 19 years ago and dated off and on for 3 years. There were so many firsts with him, first guy I was allowed to date and ride in a car without a chaperone, first guy who I kissed, bought my first car from his family, first guy who brought me flowers, all the time. First guy I really, really loved. Sadly, we split up, but remained the true best of friends until we each married other people and drifted away. He called me a few years ago and left a voice mail, but I didn’t call him back, I was trying to be respectful of my husband’s feelings. I wanted to call him though. I would give anything for a chance to say goodbye, to get a last hug, to feel his breath on my neck, one last time. Never lose touch with you friends from school, even the boyfriends. You never know when that time will come that you will never ever see or hear their voice again.

We started dating when I was 14, and six years later we got married! There were definitely some tough times, and a few breakups, but you have to work through it or call it quits. Either way, your high school sweetheart is like a best friend/true love all wrapped into one, so everything is so intense. People grow up (and sometimes apart), so it’s hard to stay together. You have to give each other room to breathe and become the adults you want to be. And transitioning from high school to “real life” is difficult…things don’t stay the same forever.
Worth it though! ♥

My highschool sweetheart is now an ass. We were together for just about 5 years when we decided to take a little break from all the seriousness associated with such a long relationship. He has since changed SO MUCH to try to fit in with his college friends that I no longer recognize him anymore. I would not like to marry this stranger anymore.
