I’ve really been pushing myself to improve, and I knocked a full three minutes off of my time. I love it! I really think that I can complete this goal in the next six months.
I want to increase my fitness, stamina, and power so that I can actually win a 5K. If I can do that, then I’ll know that I can complete a 1/2 marathon.
I had put this goal off as I was not running seriously for a while there. But as I am now training for my next marathon, I am starting to feel stronger and faster again. I will make attempt number one next couple weeks. I am not sure which race, but there are a few that I am deciding between.
My attempt to do this will be in January, as I have eye surgery this month, and not enough time for really solid training with my insane holiday scheduling for work. However, beginning December 23rd, I can start some good training again, and then do a race the second weekend in January. I already have a solid running foundation, so I should be able to hopefully do this by the end of January. My big issue to get over is mental, I often place top five in races, but don’t gut it out to win the dang thing. I believe I have the ability, I just need to prove it now. As soon as I have my training schedule finished I will post it.
