Its interesting how everything is connected and interrelated. As we move along in our path of just being, living in the moment, we experience many things.
We also begin to let go of things – which no longer help us in our journey. Could be people, activities or behaviours.. through that process of emptyin out in order to allow more room for the divine ..amazing things happen.. we learn to experience love to flow all the time for ourselves and others.. we learn to honour ourselves.. through hounouring of ourselves.. giving ourselves the space to just be.. we learn to surrender. In surrendering to the divine we realize that everything is occuring as it should and while we do have choice, nothing really needs to be fixed. That the good and the bad times do complement eachother, cuz really there is not one without the other.
I only realized recently the link between surrendering and compassion. They are all so interrelated.
Sometimes when we try to help people we dont help them but rather de-empower them from making their own choices. We can see through development efforts around the world that many things have not really improved. And why is that? Because many of times, one group of people think they know whats best for the other.. for example we from the West think we know whats best for the South(Global South).. we think our way is the right way.. that if they lived like us.. they would be happy.
Similiarly as indivduals, sometimes we want to help people based on our own experiences that we end up doing all the work and then feel resentful when the person doesnt listen or has no interest in healing themselves.
What we need to do then is step back. A good leader doesn’t try to change people out of their own will but supports. It is through that unconditional love that the leader, empowerer surrenders their own goals or objectives to be a support system.
I recently read a book by Paolo Freire called pedagogy of Hope. In his book he says that we all have the potential to become realized individuals, get out of our Oppression, oppression for him is whatever is holding us back from developing our selves into realized beings..In addition he claims that if we were to become aware of the truth of the nature of what is holding us back from mobilizing ourselves.. we would find a means to get out of it… whether than be living in poverty, being a victim of violence, stressful workplace, abusive relationships. He claims that even those who are the oppressors are oppressed.. so those big time corporations those vps and ceo’s are also oppressed because they are not aware of their actions.. and how they effect others. If they did.. they would stop what they were doing right away.. Basically his main idea is oppression comes from lack of awareness of the truth*
It is through conscientizacao or conscientization that people can being to find a means to get out of oppression.
Coming full circle, I want to be a one who constantly works at empowering myself and others.. as a person who can be there for others.. give selflessly. Additionally.. i am realizing that the way to teach in a non-hierachial way would be to teach through living..teaching through example.. like Jesus, Buddha, Mother Teresa, Gandhi,
