Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Riese105A Work in Progress

So I finally picked up this project again today—had only gotten as far as cutting the seams of the pants legs. Today, i stitched the front together, and did a little of the back, but got halted wen i realised i wanted to undo some of the stitching and cant seem to find my seam ripper to undo the excess. I pretty much never lose things in my room, so it’s always odd when I can’t find something in here. Hope the skirt will turn out wearable when all is said and done. 5 years ago

twinstarsLooking back...

Make sure the old jeans aren’t warped when you sew them together! Otherwise it’ll look a bit funny ;) 6 years ago

twinstarsI actually sewed the jean panels together

But I have to put a belt on the top and trim on the bottom. Hopefully it turns out good… 6 years ago

I am not sure if I am going to wear this, but it was fun to make plus it is my first wereable! It’s also my first finished machine sewing project besides hemming pants. I bought a book called ‘99 Ways to Cut, Sew & Deck Out Your Denim’ I think I’ll make some skirts from that book. I hope soon. 6 years ago

I made several skirts from old jeans. One was based on the idea of just opening the inner leg seams and laying them across each other; this doesn’t work with all jeans as the zipper will sometimes come down too far and make a weird pooch in the front. The others were mostly made of fabric for the actual skirt, with the yoke being the waist and first several inches of the jeans. 6 years ago
