it’s nice knowing you can visit some other place and be able to speak to some of them without looking everything up.
How to speak Hebrew fluently
How I did it: i got to speak from the torah on my bar mitzvah. after studing hebrew for several years you learn the vowels the letters and everything. i still some know hebrew. i probably couldn't speak it fluently but maybe if iwent to temple more i could.

I can read reasonably well, but have no clue what I’m reading, I can just sound things out. Thanks to my genealogy work, I’m pretty good at names and places, but I really need to learn to say something other than the basic polite phrases and “I don’t speak Hebrew”.
I’m learning a few new words for my trip to Israel in August, and I’ve put an Ulpan on my “to do” list for next year. If I can get even basic conversational Hebrew down, my cousins will help me get better.
I realize that I know more Hebrew than I think I do, but I just don’t feel confortable with it. My friend, however, is a Hebrew rockstar and has really been disciplined about getting her Hebrew in check! As soon as my booktourin’ stuff has cooled off, I’ll have mor focus/time to devote to it as well.
