what a waste of time 1 month ago

things went so well that I knew I was going to get rid of some stuff. A problem at work closed them down for the day so I got to spend the day preparing. My husband helped me take the stuff to the site we were holding it. The next morning I had no problem getting stuff set up. We waited eagerly for the mobs of people who…never showed up. We had sales but I only made about $13. It took me until 3:00 to clean up and things up. i was so exhausted I had to take a nap. I’ve had some great yardsales where I’ve made nearly $200 but this was the worst one I’ve ever had hands down.

the day has come 2 months ago

we have finally scheduled the yardsale for October 5th. What a relief! If I can get rid of some stuff then I can get more stuff out of the house! Hurrah! Pray for a clear day!

this is frustrating 4 months ago

No Saturday that I can do this! Last Saturday we went out of town a few hours that morning. This Saturday my boss wants me to work and I’ve got a funeral to go to. The next weekend I’m leaving for the weekend. Okay, everything happens according to God’s timing not mine. Everthing happens…

I can hardly believe it but... 4 months ago

I’ve thrown away and reorganized enough in the sheds in our yard that I was able to get everything out of the rented shed today. I know where enough clumps of things are that a yard sale is now feasible. I know where these are:
    1. the winter and spring clothes are
    2. most of the books are and have begun categorizing them (scifi, literary, nonfiction)
    3. arts and craft items
    4. shoes
    5. beanie babies
    6.tapes

Now the question is, do I start having yardsales now or wait until the end of the month when people have more money? I do need to do more organizing of crafts and toys before I would feel comfortable allowing people to go throught them. Allowing another week would give me more organizing and throw away time. it’d also allow me time to get started on the house. The 25th is the following Saturday and some people get paid that weekend. sounds like a good tentative date.

    possible options 4 months ago

    1. start having small yardsales in the backyard with the stuff I know is ready
    2. price everything cheap to sell
    3. sell shoes, clothes I have too much of even if it is stuff I like, beanie babies, books, craft items, pictures
    4. there is the renting the building option but I don’t think I can do a big one with my health problems without help
    5. hire someone to help me
    6. just throw stuff away I can’t give away and not try to do a yardsale

too much to sort through 5 months ago

I am simply overwhelmed with items to sort through. If I had some help with organization, I might could manage but the volume of books and crafts I have to prepare to yardsale is immense. If only there was a place I could take things the night before with tables. Hhmmm…there might be such a place but it charges. I could look into what it would cost and if I could go in the night before to prepare. I would have to time it right at the first of the month when people have money.

    what work 5 months ago

I sold $21 worth of books to the bookstore and some things online. Maybe $80+ online but I haven’t seen any of it yet. I threw away a big box of stuff Sunday. I can tell that the shed has a little less in it. I also didn’t realize what bad shape it is in. Rotten holes have appeared in the walls. The shed is around 20 years old. I have a feeling that I seriously need to get everything paper out. I can move things that can be covered with plastic in instead. I’m also just going to have to get rid of some good low value stuff we don’t use to save some things worth more.

have gotten together some stock to sell. 5 months ago

I’ve gotten some items together mostly books, shoes, 2 sets of dishes,a few clothes, and beanie babies. A rather lopsided but accurate showing of my interests over the past 10 years. I had to quit weeding through stuff after lunch due to a thunderstorm. Maybe it will be cooler in the shed tomorrow. My husband was a little concerned about me today. I’m kind of feeling that it is not happening this Saturday. There’s just too much to go through and the work is very heavy. I am also going to try selling some of the books to used book stores first. Whatever remains goes to the yardsale.

needs to be done! 5 months ago

As I sift through the house and the sheds, I should collect a good number of things we don’t need anymore. When I’ve gotten enough collected, I’ll get an ad put in the paper or go to a local flea market. At the flea, I’ll get a table so I won’t have to track one down for home. We’ll see. I hate packing the car up but I also don’t like for people to know where I live either. I need money right now so I don’t want to give more to charity than I have to. If the weather is good, people around here are just manic for yard sales!
