More random acts of kindness

I just got the PostSecret book and after looking through, so many touched me on a very deep level. I think I’ve even been a bit selfish; There’s so many people who need these random acts of kindness and I don’t perform enough.

I’ve been helping people out more than usual lately. Sorting out extra little bits for people at college. Fetching and carrying things all over the place. Cleaning up after people. Picking up bits of litter.

I think that qualifies me for having done it. I’ll just continue with being a generally helpful and polite person for now. It’ll do for me.

I decided to sit with my mum and eat dinner. I tried to have a normal conversation with her but it quickly degenerated into an argument.

She drives me crazy!

I went home and randomly decided to wash the dishes… Not something I usually do.

I don’t know at what point I should consider this goal complete… I’m a pretty nice guy anyway. ;)

I’m the kind of guy who usually holds a door open or something like that, but I’ve been doing it a lot more as of late.

Today I saw a man had dropped his mobile phone on the floor, so instead of waiting for him to notice it, or watching it get stolen, I got up, picked it up, and passed it to him.

He was probably pretty grateful. I know I would be.

I also walked someone I hardly ever speak to to a taxi rank with my friend.

It’s just a shame that for every nice thing I do it seems like someone wants to do a nasty thing back to me.

Some guy I’d never met elbowed me in the face last night for the sake of it. My lip bled quite a bit. :\

Oh well.

Fate’s a crazy bitch.
Even though I gave up smoking, I went into the smoking area [to feel more at home]
It was there I heard Ron telling Juliet about some special CD’s to buy, which would have cost her a small fortune. So I offered to burn them onto a couple of CD’s for her.
Ron was looking for something to put the CD’s in to make sure I didn’t scratch them, and while Juliet helped him look, she found her mobile phone. Now, she lost this phone nearly two months ago and was just about to buy a new one.
She couldn’t get over that. Which made her day.

In conclusion, if I hadn’t been in the smoking area, I wouldn’t have heard this conversation, and offered to burn the CD’s for her. Which equals no phone for Juliet.
[At first I took this as fates way of telling me I should start smoking again]
But then I felt bad after smoking. I’ve already come this far, I should carry on not smoking.

Anyway this made me think Random acts of kindness may lead to greater happiness.
