write a rock opera

I have come up with the storyline for the opera, and am now breaking it down into the major episodes/ themes which will make up the individual songs. It’s going to be called ‘Ash’, but I’m holding back on the details of the story right now because I find that these things will change. I also have a list of the main characters who will have singing parts, and after I’ve decided what the songs will be about I’ll decide on which character(s) will be singing them. Then for the lyrics!!!

I have to write a 7500 word ‘Transmission Project’ as part of my creative writing MA, and as Tommy is 40 this year I took it as a sign that it should be a rock opera! Don’t have a subject or title yet, have had a few tentative ideas and scribbled down a few lyrics which will no doubt be scrapped. I’ll let you know how I get on. Any brilliant ideas?
