How I did it: I stopped eating all forms of flour and sugar. I started planning my meals and writing down what I will eat a day or two in advance. I weigh and measure all of my food so my portions are consistent. At first I could not exercise, but as I have gotten closer to my healthy weight, I have been able to become more active gradually. How I did it:
After a trip to Vegas and way too many buffet meals, I was decidedly unhappy with my weight. I decided that I was going to take dieting and exercise seriously and stick to it. I counted calories and used my treadmill six days a week. I started slow on the treadmill and as my workouts became more comfortable, I would bump my speed up by another tenth. With six months persistence, I lost about 50 pounds. Having been overweight since about 9 years old, I am very happy to be a healthy BMI now. I would still like to see another 15 pounds or so go, as I have extra fat on my stomach and arms still, but am very happy to be where I am now. At 25, I weigh less than I did when I started high school. Read how I did it… 9 months ago

Since I started I have lost 152 lbs. I am still eating no flour, no sugar and no alcohol. I don’t miss it. I feel better than I’ve ever felt in my life, even better than I felt the last time I weighed this much. 20 months ago
I am still losing weight by weighing and measuring my food and avoiding all flour and sugar. I have about another 96 lbs to lose. For the first time in my life this does not feel impossible. 23 months ago
I gained most of my weight back and more. That was very discouraging. I think I’ve finally found the solution to my struggle with food and weight issues. I’ve stopped eating sugar and flour. Now I don’t have cravings anymore and it makes it much easier for me to stay on a healthy track. I also weigh and measure my food and keep a food diary. This allows me to have no delusions about how much I’m eating and what I am eating. Having a major setback was hard, but now I’m back on track again and for the first time in my life I have hope that I will be able to lose this weight and keep it off. Since June 2, 2011 I have lost 14.5 lbs. I get to weigh myself again on August 1 so I will get to see my progress. 2 years ago
