~ John Lee ~ setting my sights lower so I can set them higher
Going to the Gift Fair was great (it still runs two more days but I don’t think there is anything more to see).
Starting a business is challenging (it’s an e-commerce site). Finding the right product lines to carry is hard – I want to sell, not be in the inventory business. At the show I found lots of things that either directly or indirectly connected to other things I am already doing. (I always like the thing on Amazon.com “people who bought this also bought….”) My challenge is to find what people who bought this will also buy. I feel pretty confident about what I am doing.
And I found more Hungry Caterpillar items for children!

...to the New York International Gift Fair.
I’ve gone to trade shows before, but there is something about the first one for YOUR business that makes this one special. the show starts on Saturday at 9am and you can be sure that I will be there for the opening.
My admission passes came today. I was surprised at the detail I needed to go through to get tickets. I guess there is a lot of spying in the gift business.
With all of the other pieces of my business coming together now, this is a great thing to do now. Besides seeing all the possibilities of where I can grow the business, talking to others about the business really helps me understand where it’d going.

So my paperwork is in, I am registered, my “credentials” will be in the mail to me this afternoon. I was concerned that being so very early in the start up phase that they would not let me go, but alas I got the email confirmation a few minutes ago. I am not going to consider this goal accomplished until I actually go.

One of the things I need to do in order to make my business successful is have the right products – going to the gift show will give me so many options to chose from.
