I need to learn a lot of Quechua fast. I will be in Cusco for eight weeks for this purpose. Does anyone know of any good (and relatively affordable…no gringo prices) teachers or institutes in Cusco?

Worth doing!
It’s an interesting language and it was fun to buy groceries in quecha in Cuzco. It makes the local encounters more vivid because people are impressed a foreigner speaks their dialect.

I don’t think we’re gonna continue that course. The teacher is too old to drive to our house and we don’t have the time to go to the academy. This will soon be marked as done.

You guys, there is a great online resource on the website of the Yachay Academy in Lima (note: yachay means to learn). It’s in spanish though.

I am just adding this to my list as I am SO CLOSE to completing the goal, but I dropped out once before and really wanna finish before Christmas! Hopefully we can go through the 1.5 units left in 3 lessons and then do the exam on the 4 lesson and job done, in time for Christmas!
COME ON!!!!
I love languages. My husband is Colombian, a mestizo of mixed heritage including some amerindian – likely Guane. While I would love to learn Guane, the language is extinct with only a few place names remaining. Quechua is accessible.
degan is working on a coffee. *yawn*
i got a Quechua phrasebook for christmas, so the learning will be forthwith!

I found this institute that teaches Quechua, it’s my 3rd month and it is quite difficult, but I m really motivated
this was a really good goal when I was gonna be in Peru, but now I’m not gonna be in Peru for quite a while now. I’m not giving up, but it’s just not as urgent as I once thought it was. Right now I need to work on my Spanish for Panama, yeah!
