Robert Cormier
Judy Blume
M.E.Kerr
Katherine Paterson
Cynthia Voigt
Robert O’Brien

I have my sketch pad and notebook open, and I am doodling characters and character descriptions.
I have plenty of ideas and though I am easily frustrated I want to complete a 100+ page draft of my first young adult novel.
It has been my life long dream to become a published writer. After working as a young adult librarian, and reading lots of young adult literature, I decided I would like to write for teens.
I’ve always wanted to write a young adult novel. If that goes well, I’ll begin on my adult novel. And if THAT goes well, I’ll start on my adult movie! XXXciting!
That’s the title! And I have: the main characters, a rough storyline – for the first few chapters at least, names, places, background details. Not quite there with the end yet. Shall I work towards happy or sad. Which is in at the moment? Are you supposed to add a smidgeon of sex in a YA novel? I hear these people having conversations inside my head but they refuse to commit themselves to paper or, to be more precise, my darn monitor. Maybe I should invest in a mini tape recorder and I could mutter to myself while I commute?
