Find the right dentist. 4 years ago

After having braces for 4 years, and monthly visits, I wasn’t really afraid of the dentist any more. Over the course of around 3 or 4 years, I went to 4 or 5 dentists, not stopping at any that were just “ok”, until I finally found one that I totally loved. He’s very skilled and uses the latest practices, like using a heatless laser instead of a drill and using gold or composite fillings (which are good for 20+ years) instead of silver (which tends to start resulting in cracked teeth or further decay and requires replacement every 10 years).

Would go every day if I could! 4 years ago

Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s an economic option. I love the way my mouth feels after I’ve been! :)

Clean! 4 years ago

I went to my dentist appointment today and to my ever-loving surprise, I don’t have any cavities! Hurray! And the dentist is a good guy, very much of the “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” school of thought, and so yay! I’ll be going back in 6 months for another cleaning and checkup, and I’m feeling very proud of myself for meeting this goal! Yay!

Somebody at work recommended this dentist, and his office is nearby, and the person I spoke to on the phone when I made my appointment was friendly. I made my appointment for a checkup and cleaning and all that good stuff on 27 January, for 11 AM on 10 February. They’re supposedly sending me some paperwork to fill out, but I haven’t seen it yet. I’ve been flossing compulsively since then, but it’s been years since I’ve had a checkup so I just know my teeth look terrible, and I can feel at least 4 spots that are probably cavities. Oh, the dread.

I fear the masked man 4 years ago

I have an extreme fear of dentists. I dread a dentist appointment to the point that it can consume my life for weeks prior to the appointment. Link this fear along with my problem with procrastination and there lies the reasons why I haven’t been to a dentist regularly.

I have researched sedation dentistry and feel that it may be a viable option for myself. My wife has found a dentist in town whom practices sedation dentistry and has made an appointment for herself. I will be accompanying her and will update with how her experience as the patient and mine as the spectator turned out.
