Take initiative

was feeling lazy but forced self to go out, and invited friends, when i usually dont instigate!

I’ve been told that I need to take more initiative. At the time, I thought that meant to work harder. But now I realize that is not the case at all. Taking initiative means to work “differently”, aka outside the box. Be creative at work. Take an opportunity when it is there.

sometimes i sit back and let bad things happen… never to others, always to myself. i hate to be an inconvenience. it’s terrible.

Why is it that I do this and then people get nervous or annoyed that I did something or suggested something that needs to be done without being told to do it. Dealing with the insecurities of the people that surround you can be no fun, but I will take the initiative anyway no matter how much others discourage me from doing so. If they dislike it so much than I suppose they should find someone else who does not take the initiative to do my work. Someone who knows more about a “home town” atmosphere that won’t want to bring about change in any way shape or form.

Taking initiative has made a big difference in my overall happiness. It’s like being accountable for my own well being (as much is possible) and striving to do what’s best on a daily basis…

After a review with my boss I looked into some continuing education courses. I started my first course last Saturday (which will eventually earn me a certificate in Meeting and Event Planning!)

Since starting the certificate I’ve been thrown into the planning of an annual event because the actual event planner has been slacking. She may not realize it… but by not working, she’s just working her self out of job.

Anyway, I hope that this experience will prove to my boss that I can handle the planning of events like this one in the future. But we’ll see how things work out…

... becoming more pro-active at work. Today I framed our Customer Support Mission Statement without being asked. At first I was worried that my boss wouldn’t appreciate it, but the more I think about it, the better I feel for just doing it!

I guess it kiks in if you really want something.

That same talent you got prasied for, if not developed, haunts you. I figured that since I have all this talents why should I feel guilty about not using it….I just need to use it. I finally decided to enroll back in school…screw how much loan money I take how…how many times I have to take a class over…I’m grateful to have this oppurtunity to grow. Forget the outcome…I’m trying my damndest
