I have synesthesia – my brain is wired abnormally and some of my senses overlap. In my case, the senses of taste and touch intermingle and give me very odd food preferences because I pick things more often based on touch than taste. Certain combinations of flavor and texture are absolutely repulsive to me and I cannot eat them – I literally take one bite, chew once, and immediately gag, fighting back a strong urge to vomit. Carrots, lettuce, and cauliflower are the worst for me. Tomatoes, potatoes, and broccoli are almost as bad, but I can usually get one bite chewed and swallowed before I have to stop.
My diet is decent – I get most of the nutrition I need, but I can’t enjoy things like salad or an unaltered sandwich from restaurants because of the leafy greens and such that my body is wont to reject.
I would like to teach my body to accept things that won’t hurt it, but will instead help it. Lord knows I could use more fiber in my diet. :/

I found a great Mozzerella stuffed Tomato recipe on foodtv.com, and one for aspargus that I actually liked eating, I was shocked to be enjoying it. I want to tackle Zuchini(sp?) next!

Its easy just make sure they are fresh. Frozen or old veggies will make anyone hate them.
Also don’t over cook them if you want to cook them at all.

I have started eating salad! I really enjoy caesar salad. There are still lots more vegetables that I need to start eating though, but it’s a step forward on this!!

Basically the only vegetables I like are green beans, corn, lettuce, tomatoes (which is considered a fruit, but we’ll pretend it’s not), cucumbers, zucchini, and broccoli (only with cheese!). I think that’s about it. Everything else I can’t stand to eat. Well I guess that’s not too bad. At least I like those. I mean it could be a lot worse! Maybe I’m hoping that one day when I’m older I’ll just get this sudden craving for carrots. And we all know that would be…a miracle. Or something like it.

I’ve been slowly integrating spinach into my diet…in wraps, sandwiches, omelets and the like. My next conquest will be broccoli. Shudder.
