Ivymere continually searches for her ground, her sky, and herself
I learned about this early on because my mother loves it. Dad hates it though. It’s pretty prevalent in Hawaii for those of us who know where to get it. I don’t really eat it. I’ve tried it and it tastes fine to me – I have no problem with the scent or the taste so it always amazes me that people think it stinks ot high heaven. shrug
It’s pretty hilarious how my Dad refuses to let my Mom keep it in the fridge for long because he says the smell permeates the rest of the food.

I’ll try almost anything once, just to say I did.
I tried the durian. My folks live in Singapore, and you can smell the stuff a mile away.
Took my third visit to Singapore before I finally tried it. A small bite. But I tried it.

Its afficianados call the Durian the “King of the Fruits”. I’d call them crazy. I was fortunate enough to find Durian at an Asian Market in Rochester, NY (Lee’s Oriental Foods in the Genesee Regional Market on Jefferson Ave.) It didn’t smell that bad, at first, but got a there a little bit before I ate it. Inside were pockets of custard, with a red seed in the middle of each pocket. This vanilla pudding looking goo is the part you eat. Mine tasted like vanilla custard mixed with rotten onion. Can’t say I loved it , but it was fun to try!
