"I still have mixed feelings about leaving California"
How I did it: I had to leave California for many reasons, none of them because I really wanted to move away, but mainly because I NEEDED to move away.
California (San Diego) is beautiful! Perfect weather, everything is nearby, the beach, the mountains, the border, everything! There is so much to see and do and you are never short of things to enjoy!!
However, California has become so expensive!! It is impossible to survive there unless you make tons of money! Otherwise you have to live in areas that leave much to hope for! Drugs & Crime are another problem, it seems that everyone is doing one kind of drug or another, and whether you want it or not, eventually it surrounds you, like a black mist, ready to engulf you!.
I moved away to the state next door. But Arizona is so hot that I can't wait to move away from here!
True, life is way more affordable here, but there is not much to do or see (compared to So California), and 2/3 out of the year I am imprisoned by the heat!
People are much nicer here, and everyone is kind and willing to help one another, but the heat is too much for me!!
I miss many things about California, but I will never regret leaving!! If I had never left California, I would have never met the love of my life!!
Lessons & tips: Before moving out, make sure that you like the new place! Do research, and look for a place that will fit your needs!
Think about issues like Education, Work, Cost of living, Transportation, Weather, etc.
Resources: Friends helped make the transition less painful, and community resources lend a big hand!
