How to move out of california

Lissi is not looking forward to today

I'm happy that I left. 2 weeks ago

There was nothing left for me back in California. Yes, I miss the friends that I had but I had more negative memories then positive memories about the state and that’s not good. I left a month ago and each day I wake up and feel better when I look out the window. I’m experiencing an actual autumn. I cannot wait for the rest of the seasons. Maybe I was always an East Coast girl at heart <3.

A minor delay... 1 month ago

I need to save more money before I move. My move-out date is pushed back six months. I’m still keeping my eye on the prize, though!

I too have MIXED FEELINGS "about leaving California...." 5 months ago

I read your post about mixed feelings about leaving California and you are absolutely right about EVERYTHING you said. I live in San Diego County and was born and raised here and while yes, it is PERFECT here…it makes you re-think about the definition of “Perfect”. My husband and my family just cannot afford it anymore. We built an amazing home here and invested in a lot of real estate when we sold our company. “Set for life” you might think… not quite. We have completely depleated our savings while trying to survive for the last 2 years and now that we are desperate, we cannot get anyone to buy any of our many real estate holdings. All of the prices for everything have gone up so much that we are drowning! We cannot even afford to live in our home of ten years due to the INCREDIBLE PRICE OF ELECTRICITY AND WATER, not to mention ALL of the other expenses. We pay over $700 per month for electricity (And that is living with the lights off most of the time and NEVER running the air conditioning)We landscaped our yard beautifully years ago to add value to our home, now it is coming back to haunt us with ENORMOUS water bills ($900/mo) because of increases in rates by our water district. Even with Drip irrigation and a careful watering schedule..the bill is killing us! Its a total catch 22. I can’t even SELL my house right now because property values have dropped so much that I wouldnt get enough to pay it off.

Moving out of state is looking better and better every day. California is so screwed up now and who can even make the amount of money it takes to survive here anymore? Is it even worth it if you did make enough? I think all the time about how other people in other states are living wonderful lives for a lot less! I do not think I could ever move to ARIZONA though…TOO DAMNED HOT! It is just crazy to live in that kind of heat every day.

We are really seriously looking at the Austin, Texas area. I have heard that it has been called “the San diego of Texas”. In fact, we are going there to check it out and see if we could see ourselves living there. It is so hard to REALLY imagine myself actually living somewhere else, but i also cannot imagine continuing to pay the price it costs to live here. If I stay, I will most likely end up loosing everything anyway.

Can't wait to leave. 8 months ago

I moved here a decade ago, and I can’t wait to leave. My apartment lease is up January 1, 2010, and I’ll be packing a U-Haul trailer and heading east, to Utah or Colorado.

Yes, California is expensive, but it isn’t the actual dollar amount so much as it is what you get for it. California is not a good value. The quality of life is very low, compared with how much you pay.

I’ll miss my friends, and I’ll miss the scenery, but I doubt I’ll miss anything else.

I have been here 35 years, and so very tired something or someone is always keeping me here, I now can go, but before I go you must know that one family is paying for 6 families to live with out working, Now I know jobs are hard to comeby, but if you add wic, hud, medical, food stamps, and everthing else, Why would you work???? studies have been done and it equals 34,000.00 a year for a father mother, and two kids to live in california on welfare. That is there income for doing nothing!. I am tired very tired I have been in social service for 30 years helping the poor. California needs to get it together, I am an independant and, relize it is hard, but if the nomal person in the middle, knew what I knew you would be so very very angry!!!!!!. Wake up california it is a welfare state, and I am tired and cant keep up with giving and giving. Done. and I do know what I am talking about!

NO more cali! 15 months ago

dont get me wrong…i was born and raised in cali. i surf 5 times a week, enjoy going to school, love the ocean and all the sun we get. But what im sick of is the traffic and the fake people here and how expensive it is to live.. eventually i want to move out of cali to a state that has trees and fresh air and large amounts of land. of course it woul be ideal if it were on a coast, but realistically i think it wont be. im excited to one day just get up and leave and start over somewhere new! i think somewhere else will also be a great place to start a family one day;

im glad my boyfriend agrees!!!!!!

Ok…so while I hate the cost of living here, I love everything else. I live in an amazing area, great weather, mountains, nice people, and generally a really great quality of life. Yah, its more expensive to live here, but its worth it.

okay 19 months ago

this is going to take a while considering i want to pay off all debt, get my teeth fixed while i have good insurance, get a car (or truck) and get some sort of degree before i move. i think i should place on 2 1/2 to three years before i can move but that will give me plenty of time to be in good standings and to really figure out where it is i want to be. here are the places i am thinking about right now…

Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. It looks like I have a lot of vacations to look forward to. :)
