I’m waiting until my puppy is potty trained so that the new dog isn’t a distraction to him. I’m going to look on petfinder.com because rescuing a dog feels so much better than just buying one. My boyfriend wants a boxer but I really want a rottweiler so who knows what we will do.

Im very happy to say that all my 4 dogs were rescued. I rescued my 1st dog from going to shelter when his owners were moving out of state. Instead of them putting him in the shelter, I adopted him. My second dog, I adopted in the shelter, my 3rd dog I adopted him at my vet, when the owner decided that they did not want him anymore and my 4th dog, was being sold but no one wanted to buy him because he was to big for a chihuahua, so they were just going to put him in the shelter, so I decided to just get him instead. It’s very rewarding and I fell very happy that they are part of my life.

So many need help... 6 months ago

It’s not too hard to rescue cats because they can become indoor creatures fairly easily – even the most outdoor of cats. I’ve been there, I’ve done that.

I want to get back into dog rescuing. But as an adult now. Before, I still lived at home and was a minor. It was a system of begging and talking my mother into taking a dog in. There are so many that need help.

(I’ve been banned by family and friends from ‘just visiting’ animal shelters)

The instant I get into a place and position where I can rescue a dog, I will do so! I have to now. It is one of my goals :)

Rescue a dog from a pound or a shelter; not from immediate peril or a tall tree.

Once we get the new puppy settled with the old one, we’re going to look in to adopting a ‘Senior” bulldog, and just giving an otherwise bleak outlook a pleasant place to spend their last days.

It may be painful, but before we commit to a puppy of the same breed, we would like to know that we are mature enough to take care of a Bulldog with all the responsibilities and health problems that come along with it.

I totally recommend getting an Aussie! Great dogs. Very loving and very photogenic too!

One of our dogs is from the pound. 14 months ago

And she’s the smartest, healthiest, calmest of the two dogs we have. I will never buy a purebred dog again.

We saw a post on Craig’s list that she would be put down at 4:00 that day if she wasn’t adopted, along with 2 other dogs. We couldn’t even look at the other dogs. We’d have loved to have taken all of them, but we already had 2 other dogs. Now she is fat and happy.

Well, I have rescued over 150 dogs within the last five years. But now I had to take a break and I miss making a difference in the needy dogs’ lives. I have seven of my own who I love so much but there are millions dying every year in the US and I think about it every day. They are good dogs and cats that people just dumped and no matter how hard people are trying to save them, there is not enough money or room and they have to be put to sleep. It is heartbreaking and frustrating and constant uphill battle.

We are keeping her! 3 years ago

We decided to keep Sugar (the dog rescued from the highway). She and Joey (our newly adopted minpin mix) are inseparable and Joey has been languishing the last day because Sugar has been at the vet getting spayed. In fact I’m on my way to bring her home now.

On the downside, no more fostering for the forseeable future—four dogs are enough of a handful. But someday we’ll be fosters again, I’m sure of it.
