I sort of did this. I take Kung Fu & Sparring and it’s at my gym now… so I bought a membership and am probably more motivated to go by the kung fu than by the actual gym.
It sort of counts?

I don’t need to join a gym now, because I moved to an apartment complex with a gym in it!
I didn’t think when my boyfriend convinced my to join the gym with him, that I’d actually go. Sometimes I do get lazy and skip a few days, but I love my gym! I like to mix it up by some days running around the track, some days doing the bike, and others doing either a yoga or cardio class. Try to join a gym that offers free classes if you’d be interested in them. Also let the gym know where you work because in our case, we were never informed by our company that we got a discount at that particular gym, but when we signed up they let us know, and we saved a bunch on our membership and monthly fees!
p.s. after awhile when you start seeing a change in your body, it’ll encourage you do go even more! my arms have been toning up quite nicely since I’ve started, and it keeps me going back so I can work on other areas like my abs and legs.
Finally got a membership last week and I’ve been a few times since then. I’m just trying a bit of everything at the moment, mainly the classes, but I’ll come up with more of a routine once I get the hang of it.
it is soooo worth it. Try to stick with a schedule and don’t get discouraged if you don’t see a change quickly. If you don’t change your eating habits, it will take much longer to see exercise results.
I joined a gym in 2002 and went almost every single day for the entire summer. Well, after that I went back to finish my last year of high school and went the odd day here and there. I quit in summer 2003 because I was going to school in Kitchener and couldn’t find the time.
Fast forward to 2006 and I rejoined in May. I’ve been going between 3-5 days a week and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I’m planning on losing about 10 pounds and not only does it make you healthier, but it also makes you happier. Even though after my workout I’m exhausted, give or take a few hours I’ll be energized and happy for the rest of the day.
Just make sure to actually go enough days a week for it to have effect on your body, but also enough days to make the payments worthwhile because it can get expensive. My gym’s quite expensive compared to a lot of the gyms out there. I pay $30.00 bi-weekly. Without a membership one can get in for $10 a visit, so I make sure to get in as much as I can to make the payments worth it.
