    I don't know where to begin . . . 2 years ago

I’ve done so much stuff this summer. I have definitely been more active and doing more stuff. I’ve joined several meet up groups on a site called meetup. I’ve meet some really wonderful people. Being apart of the groups let’s me know that there are good decent people in the world, because when I listen and watch the news, it appears that the world has gone crazy. It’s good to know that not all the world has gone mad, just a small portion. Here’s a rundown of what I’ve been doing, to meet my goal of being more active and doing more stuff:

    Playdate (Game Night)
    Paint By Numbers (Social Event)
    The Bluest Eye (Play)
    The Sam Cooke Story (Play)
    Wednesday Wind Down (Concert)

    Bowling (Physical Activity)
Fireworks at Centennial Olympic Park (Outing)
Ceremonies in Dark Old Men (Play)
    White Linen Affair (Concert)
    Scrabble Meetups (Games)
    Emergence-See (Play)
    Sistabration (Social Event)
    Poetry at Mocha Match Cafe
    Gland play reading (Play)
    Urban Film Review (Movie)

Memorial Day Weekend 2 years ago

The weekend started on Thursday night for me. Me and two girl friends participated in the Theatrical Outfits, “Girls Night Out”, were they provide a dinner and a play for $39. We had Dinner at Ted Montana’s . . yum yum. The menu was limited but it was really good. I had salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes with lemonade and snickerdoodles for dessert. The play was excellent. A funny, drama filled play with great dialogue. Friday I shopped all day, I was supposed to meet some friends at Apres Diem, but I found a injured baby bird in my backyard. I took the bird to a lady that saves injured birds, by the time I got home I was too tired to do anything else. Saturday, me and my sweetie went to Piedmont Park to check out Julie Dexter as part of the Jazz Fest. Then we meet his brother and sister n law and nephew at Wildfire and had a wonderful dinner. Afterwards we went to Playdate. I played my favorite game – Scrabble and sweetie played cards. We were out to 3 am.
Sunday morning, we dragged ourselves to church, my sweetie’s brother’s family joined us for the 8 am service and afterward we had breakfast at IHOP. We went home and crashed, later that evening we picked up sweetie’s sister and went to Piedmont Park to check out Pete Escovedo and Sheila E. Nice evening. Music was great. Afterwards we hit out favorite Chinese spot – Hong Kong Harbor. Monday, we rode on the Silver Comet from the 0 mile marker to the 4.2 mile marker and back. I’m out of shape it took us 44 minutes. We’ve set a goal to beat that time the next time. Afterwards we came home and I made a very satisfying dinner of grilled salmon and ribeye with grilled corn on the cob, seasoned with salt, pepper and paprika and steamed broccoli. Later that evening we went back to Piedmont Park to see Mike Phillips, great show.

    Stick Fly – A play
    Ted’s Montana Grill – Restaurant
    IHOP
    Wildfire – Restaurant

The Women of Color Arts & Film Festival @ The Auburn Avenue African American Research Library. Saw a really good film titled Shoot the Messenger.

    April
I joined a Scrabble Meetup and that has been alot of fun. I also went to an Barack Obama Rally at Georgia Tech and saw the Play Respect with my friend Leah. Oh, and there was the Atlanta Dog Jog that Collin and I participated in besting our time from last year. I almost forgot the Paint By Numbers event that I attended that was just wonderful. Enjoyed that so much that I’m taking my Mom, who enjoys painting, for Mother’s Day. I also went to a film festivals at the South DeKalb Mall. Me and sweetie also went to African Dinner and a Movie at the Shrine of the Black Madonna, it was a small turnout but I enjoyed the food and the movie. I also went to an Eric Jerome Dickey book signing at the Borders on South Cobb drive. I hadn’t been to a book signing in years. I hung out with the Urban Metro Meetup Group at the Java Hut in Buckhead the night before Collin and I participated in the Atlanta Dog Jog. And me and sweetie went to Playdate and had a great time. I played scrabble with 3 others. Playdate is a wonderful concept. I’ve been true to my word. I’ve been doing all the stuff that I’ve said I was going to do. The only things that I haven’t done are play tennis and go on a picnic, but that’s about to change because Jazz Fest is right around the corner.

    Who knew? 2 years ago

Monday night and last night I went to play reading at the Southwest Art Center. Monday night’s reading was wonderful, the play, St. James Infirmary, was terrific. To my surprise Keith Hamilton Cobb was there reading the part of the main character Banner. It was just amazing. However, the reading last night sucked. That was the longest 90 minutes of my life. But, I was glad to be out and about doing stuff. Enjoying Atlanta. There is so much to do here. Friday night I went to a film festival at the Auburn Ave. Research Library. I saw a terriffic film titled Shoot the Messenger. Great piece about the issues we face within our selves regarding, class, race, and color. Who knew, I could have such a great time and see such great productions for FREE. Can’t say it enough. I love the ATL.

I hate cold weather. It sucks the life out of me. I don’t want to go anywhere and I hate being in the cold for extended periods of time. I just want to hibernate.
