Gogo was about to GO! 2 years ago

I just got a lil Golden-doodle (hence the name) on New Year’s Day. (I think). She was soooo little and soooo cute then she doubled (or trippled or somethin) in 3 months. But boy was she still ever cute. Well ladies and gentlemen and puppy lovers of America and all it’s territorities (and wherever else yall at) the cuteness wore OFF! Kinda like “novacaine after the dentist” wore off. She stunk up my house!!!! It got to the point to where I was having issues about goin home…to the funk. Well I decided to buy a new bedroom group. Which meant cleaning the carpet which meant …Ahhh GOgoooo!!!
SO! After tons of trial and error of other stuff, a few weeks ago, (as a LAST resort CUZ I was NOT about to be smellin pee while sleeping on my new bed), I decided to kennel train her and get her on a schedule while eliminating messes altogether.
She now eats and drinks twice a day. We take her out within 30 minutes (or a lil less) after meal time. No water after 5pm. And when we can’t watch her she’s in the kennel. We did it in time with my kids’ school schedule to make it easier to remember.
Now we are letting her out of the kennel more as she is peeing and pooing almost everytime we take her out…on the grass (YES)! She also gets a treat right away for doing this.
That kennel was the best 34 bucks I EVER spent…EVER! Eventually, I imagine, she will be used to peeing at these times and we will be able to “free her” altogether. For the moment however, she is doing well.
We are back to enjoying our “girl” and once more…She’s just cute.
(And lucky for her cuz she sure enuff had an eviction notice with her name on it just WAITIN to happen)!

So intermitent 3 years ago

Why can’t she just get it? for months, she is fine, no pee, no poo. Then, one day… there is one, or both. She has actually learned not to do it on the rug anymore, thankfully. The clever little brat now goes… next to the toilet! If only I could get her to go IN the toilet, this would be fine, but I will get up in the middle of the night and she will have struck again and of course, I get it on my little naked foot! This is what I get for leaving the bathroom door open when I go!

but i'm a cat person 3 years ago

so how does a cat person become a dog person. my partner, mark, on impulse, picked a puppy from a friend. but he’s not the world’s best dog trainer, in spite of how much i love him. so i got a puppy. this cat person, now has a collie mix, that we’ve ironically decided to name kitty. so far the butler’s pantry has become a poop mine field, but the crate training seems to be working somewhat. i just need to clean out some room to set up a good “from the crate to the door” sprint.

It’s all about that boundary when they’re a pup.
Or not a pup, doesn’t matter.

The pee er 3 years ago

So, the pee er stikes again. It has been weeks, maybe even a month and she did not pee in the house. All of a sudden, as I walk into the house, as I am walking to the back to let the dogs out to go pee, I see the little one… squatting on my rug! My only rug. My very, very expensive rug that I practically had to keaster to get out of the middle east! ERRRRR.

so, it has worked 4 years ago

My dog, actually one of my dogs, the youngest and last to still pee on my rug, has not peed on the rug in one week! In fact, she has not peed anywhere that I do not want her to pee in a week. Progress.

it's great not to clean up the bodily fluid of other living creatures 4 years ago

The crate was invaluable for this. If I’d followed a more rigid schedule, it probably would have gone much faster. She’s a year and 4 months old now and she’s just beginning to get the run of the house while I’m gone (I would say she was officially housetrained by the time she was a year old, but she still will chew on most non-furniture items if they’re within reach.)
