the gift that keeps on giving 2 years ago

i’ve actually made an effort to keep this going, and i’ve done it several times.

most recently, i went shopping the other night and the girl who rang up my purchases was so sweet that i struck up a conversation with her, wherein i learned she was leaving the store to pursue another line of work at the end of the month. i told her that it was a shame for the store, since people like her are hard to come by and she most assuredly made other customers smile the way she did to me. i’ve never seen someone light up like that, and it made me so happy to see how appreciative and floored she was by my comments.

but i hate seeing this goal appear to be unfinished, so i’m moving it over to the “accomplishments” column, but i’m going to keep doing it again and again and as often as possible.

there’s too much ugliness in the world to neglect a goal like this.

The great thing about my job is that I get to be ridiculously perky to strangers, and alot of people tell me thanks for being so cheery. Its odd, because in my real life im a bit of a dark little monkey, but at work i have a permagrin and chirp at people…

I know i have something similar 3 years ago

but I just wanted to join in the party and get some “stranger brightening” ideas. don’t mind if i do!

a little more about this goal 3 years ago

paying the toll for the car behind me, leaving a generous tip for a frazzled waitress, complimenting a stranger for no reason at all…. yeah, i think random acts of kindness need to start staging a comeback, and i’d like very much to help.
