I believe women should be genuinely involved in their medical care, especially when it involves the birth of their child.
Dont let medical professionals railroad you into feeling like you are a sick person who needs all the intervention they can put you through, because birth is a natural process that has risks doctors can help with.
Women CAN have babys without doctors, we do not need episiotomies 100% of the time, we do not need horendousely bright lights in our newborn’s faces and we do not need to hold our breath and count to 10 as we push for hours JUST because our cervix can technically fit a paby through it.
If you are pregnant, research the pro’s and cons of natural childbirth versus conventional and Midwives VS OBGyn’s. You dont have to pass up the epidural to have a midwife or have to deliver at home, but I gurentee that you will know a whole lot more about what is happening to your body and what is best if you have a healthy pregnancy and choose to go with a certified Nurse midwife.
If you HAVE to have an OB, go with one who serves as a backup for a midwife. They tend to be more understanding about the natural process of childbirth rather than scheduling a c-section because your due date falls right on their vacation week.
