How to be a vegetarian"Meat looks more and more disgusting every day."
How I did it: I didn't like meat to begin with anyway — I find that it looks repulsive and tastes bad, so I just decided to stop eating meat one day and I've been vegetarian ever since. Lessons & tips: A few days after I began, I started feeling really hungry. I thought it was a problem with nutrition, and it was, to some extent. It seems like a lot of people have this same problem. Resources: Here's something that tells you in what ratios to eat certain food groups:

How I did it: I secretly stopped eating meat for a month before I let anyone know, even my family. I have been meat-free for two years and counting. my family is incredibly supportive and many of my friends have followed suit. To keep from entering into a debate, when questioned about my diet I simply say "I'm not really a meat person" versus "I'm a vegetarian" -- for some reason the v-word puts meat-eaters on the defensive. How I did it: I decided that meat was disgusting to me. I never liked it as a child. The fact that the animals were tortured half the time to produce the products grossed me out. Over time it became more of a health quest than a moral quest. I took the meat out of my diet almost cold turkey (no pun intended) until I didn't want it anymore. Red meat was easy. Chicken was slightly more difficult. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I quickly gave up red meats, then white meats, and finally fish and seafood. I am now 100% vegetarian and I eat as organic as possible. I am also always trying vegan foods. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I stopped eating anything containing any form of animal. I tried new things and found different kinds of food i liked that didn't have meat in it. I ignored anyone telling me i should not be a vegetarian because i know that they are only saying that because now that they saw I could be a vegetarian they feel guilty. Read how I did it…
xmwahx is tryin 2 stop people from encouraging others 2 harm themselves!!!!!!
How I did it: Im still doing it. I did it for moral reasons. It is morally wrong to kill an animal because it tastes good and I guess thats why. Animals have as much right to live as the rest of us so protect the animals and become a vegetarian, its not hard, but only do it if its for the right reasons because if its not for the right reasons then u will never do it!!!!!!!!! I’m having to start with just cutting down on meat as much as possible because i still live at home and my mum refuses to cook me a non-meat alternative soooooo I just avoid meat as much as I can for now and yeah, I can go about 4 days without it before i starve and eat a cooked meal lol O_o

I’ve already stopped eating meat for 2 months or so and all this time I’ve felt just like before and I’ve never felt an urge to taste frien chicken or something like that. The problem is that I still seldom eat fish – but right now I’m starting to refuse from fish, too. After I’ve adjusted, we’ll see about eggs and milk products. I guess the whole process may take 6 – 8 months.
Also, there aren’t vegetarian cafes, shops or restaurants. I doubt there are any in the whole country (Latvia), at least I’ve never seen one. I’ll just try to get everything from local grocery store and my garden.

I’ve tried this for a month once, and I want to do it again!! My sister’s my inspiration, though. And just like Veggietales (hi!), I love vegetables!! YUM!

I loveeeeeeee veggies and beans and fruits etc. I can live without meat. It’s beginning to gross me out, anyways. I was eating chicken tonight, and it SUCKED because I envisioned a strangled chicken on my plate. Ew.
So far its been 2 1/2 weeks since I last ate meat, and honestly, i don’t miss it. The hardest part of this whole thing is my family’s reactions. One member feels that by not eating meat I’m not getting all the nutrients I should, and can’t understand a healthy, meatless diet. But they’re coming around. I’ve noticed everyone else in my house eating healthier since I’ve made the switch.
I’ve been meat free since Jan 1! I’m already feeling better and it’s getting easier to make something for me and my family.
farubio is preparing for hell week.
So, I decided to turn vegetarian in September of 2008. I’ve currently kept up with it (lol, aside from my backtrack of eating pork chops a week after I turned vegetarian). For the most part, it’s SUPER easy, especially since I live at home. When I go out to eat, I get the vegetarian meal (i.e. vegetarian pho, vegetarian pad thai, etc.) and it’s even BETTER vegetarian than with any other meat I’ve had. I’ve done it for health reasons, more than for animal rights (although now, I think it’s terrible when I think of meat eating and the animals that have died in order to nourish human bodies), and now I feel healthier and what not. I also keep getting compliments like, “wow, you’ve lost a lot of weight.” I don’t really owe it to turning vegetarian but I suppose it helps! :) If anything, I’m glad I’m a healthier individual.
My family does not want to stop eating meat so it’s hard to cook for them and me. I’m still determined to do this!
