visit Cancun

Just got back this last week. Cancun is a wonderful place to visit. The water is crystal blue; there are a plethora of things to do and sites to see. A week should give you plenty of time to explore Cancun and the surrounding areas. Rent a car so you can get off the usual tourist paths and create your own personalized adventure. Don’t miss the Tulum ruins and the surrounding cenotes about two hours south of Cancun. These underground cave systems are a great place to cool off after a hot day at the beach or the ruins. I recommend Cenote Azul (popular with locals), across from Hotel Barcelo on the main drag to Tulum. Hopefully going again in October!!!

When your plane is in the air and you see that gorgeous water beneath you…you know you’re almost there! Beautiful weather and memorable times. We found a restaurant that we loved (El Porton) and ate lots of meals there. Most of the wait staff didn’t speak English when I was there, but you’d be surprised what you can communicate in gestures! And STILL get a yummy meal! We especially liked getting out of the hotel zone and going to some of the more remote areas. There’s true authenticity. All in all, we had a good time, and I’d recommend the trip!

and I am going again.

I went my Junior year in college, and had the “Spring Break” experience.
A few years ago my parents bought into a resort hotel chain (Palace Resorts). So we went for Thanksgiving (Moon Palace). Two years later we went for February break (Xpu Ha) and this February we are going again (Aventura Spa).

I wish I could live there.
