cupcakehead is taking good care of herself
on her new show…so I’m going to count this one as “done.” She’s amazing!
How I did it: I tried going on Oprah's website the month before to get the call in date but I missed it. Then I put in an email for last minute tickets. We never got a phonecall. So since we were in Chicago we had to go see the Oprah studio and Oprah store. When we got there, we looked around and didn't really like anything. Just as we were about to walk out the door, a woman says "excuse me." She asked if we had been to the morning taping, and I said no, we never got a call. The woman then asked "do you want to go to the afternoon taping?" My boyfriend said my eyes nearly bugged out of my face. I said "yes!" And she said to wait right there. By this time the woman had gathered about 10 other people to stand with us. Another woman with a clip board came by and took names.
They told us to wait in a lineup across the street for our names to be called. They called the first 6 names on the list. Then we had to wait outside in a line for around 2 hours listening to Oprah security guards debating about the US's economic meltdown and how American banks never refuse credit EVER. This shocked me, as Canadian banks deny credit all the time.
Anyway, another man comes by, says only the first four people can walk in, and they're still not even sure if they can get us in. Me and BF are #3 and 4.
They checked our bags and xrayed us and we got in. Me and BF even got 2 seats next to each other, in prime view of Oprah in the centre, 8 rows in, and her teleprompter to the right of us so we could read what she was saying. Dr. Oz talked about extreme measures people take to be youthful.
Hyperbaric oxygen chambers, weighing food to count every calorie, growing organs in petrie dishes, even regenerating severed fingers. Cool stuff. Glad we went
Lessons & tips: We were at the Oprah store around 11 am on a Thurs morning in March. Maybe if you hang around there at that time you might get in too?
BTW my emotion for this would've been "believe the impossible," but 43 things says that's too long :)
