Papers are signed, money transferred. May take a while until we’re the offial owners, but my part of achieving this goal is done.

We knew exactly where we wanted to buy the land and it was available to us. The challenge was more to finance buying it before having ready plans for the house to be built and still having expenses for our current place.

This will require me to complete goal 4: Create a budget and stick to it. Good motivation though!

i think i am going to contact a relator to help me find land that would be right for me, i am willing to pay that five percent comission if it means finding just what i want.

Buying land is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done  — 2 years ago

I was very lucky, I found exactly what I wanted. However, I knew what I wanted and told everyone I knew. One day, a few months later, a guy I work with told me his wife was a real estate agent and she was putting a sign up on property nearby that I might like. I went and looked at it over my lunch break and told the agent I wanted it. Before the afternoon was over, there were two more offers. But I was first!! And it was perfect, bordering a state park, near a river, and with a historic house. Large oak trees, room for a garden, and CHEAP.
My advice: Decide what you want. Fantasize freely. Tell everyone. Be ready to pounce when the universe provides. (Cheesy but true).

It doesn't have to be a huge parcel,  — 2 years ago

Just somewhere with trees, a bubbling brook, wild flowers, a rope swing and a paddock with a barn, where I can keep my beautiful horses (when I get them) and all the rest of my waiflings. :)

I recently made an offer on some land. The offer was accepted, and I will be filling out the final paperwork in a few weeks.

Who’d have thunk we’d be landowners all of a sudden? We purchased 5 acres in Southern Colorado two years ago and shortly afterward picked up 1/4 acre in Northern New Mexico. Both purchased over the internet sight unseen. We still haven’t seen either property…maybe next summer. Both are raw land, but we don’t care. They’re OURS. :)
