The Keys to Time Management
The two indispensable keys to time management are: 1) the ability to set priorities; and 2) the ability to concentrate single-mindedly on one thing at a time.
Since there is never enough time to do everything that needs to be done, you must be continually setting priorities on your activities. Perhaps the very best question that you can memorize and repeat, over and over, is, “what is the most valuable use of my time right now?”

Really, I have no sense of time, or how long it takes to do things. Therefore I always think I can do it at the last minute (so I procrastinate). But this causes me far more stress than need be and deprives me of sleep. My life would be so much more pleasant if I learned to get my work done quickly and efficiently.

This has got to be the hardest goal I have. I cannot wait to acheive it. Life will be so enjoyable then, I am certain.

I am trying this and there has been a difference! Do It Now
This guy’s whole site has great advice on other goals people in here might have. It all seems to go hand-in-hand. We all want to make better use of our time. From what I’ve read of his stuff so far, I think he knows what he’s talking about and it’s worth a try.

I am always procrastinating because I don’t like to plan, I think it is difficult.
Does anyone have a tip on where to start? Web pages, books, articles whatever there is…
I feel like my school work is always interfering with my free time, I want to be able to plan my free time and fun as well as school work.
Thanks for any help (I hope there is a simple method, since my tendence is to make things, i.e. planning, too complicated)

I attended a formal seminar on this time management when I was a supervisor; a brief, 2 year diversion into folly. The skills I learned, though, have been critical to my success in surviving motherhood.
Being a working mother is like having two fulltime jobs. In my case, both jobs require 24/7 on-call status. I carry a beeper during the night so work can call me if there’s an emergency. I carry the beeper during the day so my kids can!
While both my kids were young, I felt as if every second of every day was planned to the minute. Any small ‘bump’ threw the entire day into disarray, but those days have passed, mostly because I stopped scheduling so much into a day. I learned how to say ‘No’ which is the real secret to time management.
I would definitely recommend a time management class/book to everyone, but after you have learned all the techniques, ask yourself what is really important in your life (in my case it’s the health/safety of my children, their education and my job since it pays for the other), and what is secondary. Don’t let other people guilt you into doing their work, always save some “down time” for yourself, and then put aside some time to use to help others that want your help.
It may seem selfish, but really it’s only logical for the same reason that on airplanes they tell you to put your own oxygen mask on before placing them on your children.

I love having time to myself now! It’s really nice to be able to get off work after school and sit down and read or do whatever…
